Love this app!

I use Zentracker to record fiddle and guitar on separate tracks and apply minor effects (eg, compression, high pass filter) as well as panning and adjusting the volume of each track. It works perfectly for my needs. I also like the layout and overall appearance.
- Notes on IMPORTING and SHARING files -
I do not use any of the cloud sharing options. Instead I simply Navigate to my iPhone "FILES" then to the Zentracker folder > Zentracker User > Mixdowns and copy files to/from there. As of the last time I checked, Zentracker supports file types: WAV, FLAC, OGG. So, when I import my out-of-state friends' recorded parts, I either have them send me a WAV file or I convert what they give me to WAV or FLAC before copying it to the Mixdowns folder and opening it in the App.

Appreciate the feedback! Thanks for leaving a review.

Capable but Crippled

Very capable mobile DAW but artificially crippled by Roland’s decision to require internet connection to save sessions.

I used this to record a multitrack outdoor performance but lost the ENTIRE recording because not being logged in to Roland meant I couldn’t save the two-hour session. Major FAIL!

Even if there had been wifi at the performance location, I was using my mobile’s wifi to control my mixer. So no internet connection possible either way.

An otherwise great piece of software relegated to bedroom toy due to bad design decisions.

Can’t access all buttons with iPhone 14 Camera

App seems pretty cool so far, but with the current UI I can’t access all the buttons on the left side of the DAW due to the iPhone 14 front cameras.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review and rating! We will pass this to our developers ASAP.

Just 1 thing!

Please add AutoTune…please, I’ll pay for it gladly.
Thanks

Thanks for the rating and suggestion!

One big dealbreaker

I was really excited about this app and was hoping to recommend it to my students to use for their composition assignments. However since neither saving to Google Drive nor sharing to one’s computer are available, I can’t recommend it. If you cannot share your recordings when and how you want to, then the DAW is useless. Any chance you can fix this before Tuesday, Roland?

Interesting visual layout for easy tracking ideas quickly

there are 3 requirements for an IOS DAW. 1. Stability 2. Usability 3. Good Sound: free compression, reverb, limiter, EQ and Multi track wave export options. Garage band layout gets in the way. This is feeling like a pro mobile DAW, up there with the CueBase one, but much easier to use especially when you’re just trying to track ideas quickly bass drums guitar and vocals keys. Bam bam bam bam, speed is key I see this as my primary mobile studio now that I actually own hey USB-C with lightning audio interface cable included. Strong suggestion , Please remove the login feature, we can sync the account to iCloud and let Apple ID sign in and restore purchased items. Also what happens if you got the next Hit Song, you rush to open the app so you can quickly get the idea down, but there’s a problem with the username or the password…now you’re DOA, it’s not fast or simple anymore. I think that will put this app over the edge as the fastest & easiest DAW on iOS. Record quality usable tracks quickly, export multi track stems to iCloud , then import The Stems into: logic, pro tools, studio One, FL studio cuebase, or ableten live.

Hi Thequin, Thanks for the review and thoughtful suggestions. Sounds like you have an awesome setup! 👍 The Roland Cloud account is required as it is the only way to unlock all features of the app, currently. Luckily once you are signed in once, you should never have to sign in again to reauthenticate.

Too hard to log in on iOS

Maybe it’s just a bug for me but
1. I don’t understand why I need and account to use a mixer app
2. For some reason I can use password manager or paste in the password field when I’m trying to log in to my Roland account, so it’s super inconvenient to type in a long password from password manager.

Response from developer

Hi there! We require a Roland Account as Zentracker is tied to your Roland Cloud account. All paid members get full access to Zentracker's features and all Loop packages in the store. Although we don't support auto-fill from password managers currently, you are able to paste in the email and password fields by tapping and holding in the text boxes. Try it out.

Epic Failure

Doesn’t recognise my audio interface: a Roland DuoCapture EX even though my YAMAHA app works with okay with it. No use for me.

Works with A.I.

This is the multitrack app I’ve been searching for, specifically for older devs like what I’ve got access to. Look is good, sounds just like it should. Use an A.I.(Roland Rubix) with your favourite condenser mic and you’ll have just what you need for acoustic guitar. Well laid out and very easy to just forget the hardware and just play.

Not phone friendly

I really wanted to like this app, it’s from Roland a brand I trust, and it has a snazzy Home Screen icon. All things pointed to a really nice modern way for me to record and layer tracks on my phone. Unfortunately once inside the app reveals itself to be little more than a PC port with lots of features unoptimised for phone. It also frequently bumped me into the subscription sign up. Roland you had a chance to make something really awesome but you didn’t.

Great to hear that! Thank you for checking out Zentracker.

Sounds Good. Not so pretty.

Sound is the only thing that counts in the end so it’s easily worth 4 stars.

I really don’t like the layout or boring look but it seems like a solid product so far.

And it free. So shut up and take it! Ha.

Response from developer

Thank you for the 4 stars. Let us know what you'd like to see added in Zentracker!

Just happy to have it

Thanks Roland, excited to try this out !

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks for checking out Zentracker. We appreciate the review. What is your favorite benefit, feature or tool so far? Let us know. We're excited to hear more.

A good idea - Bugtastic though

Has crashed several times in the few minutes I've spent on it so far. Turning off my Bluetooth headset as it was interfering with the built in mic recording was enough to make the app quit and lose all progress in the song.
Hopefully will be resolved in later versions
