Worst apartment/roommate finding app out there

I have been sent 41 messages and only three of them aren’t scamming or really sketchy. Also uses a pay wall to view messages and I paid as I was getting a lot of messages and they were messages from the app or from scams.

SCAM

They charge subscription just to send and receive messages. You’ll find a listing, message them, then when “they” message back, it’ll prompt you to pay just to be able to read the message. Many listings are fake profiles used just for this purpose. Do your research and you’ll find this is a common experience. You’re welcome!

This app sucks!

Thieves, that’s what this app is. Make sure to stop them from charging you.

They make it look like a bunch of people are messaging you about rentals or rooms available, but it’s mostly bots and fake notifications.

After you cancel you via their app they will continue to charge you. Very misleading.

Make sure to cancel via the Apple store.

Pointless

I don’t know who’s even using this bc there’s no legit listings and it’s a waste of time.

Good but EXPENSIVE

12$ a week, 30$ a month, or 50$ every other month, otherwise you can’t access DMs. Developer response makes it clear they don’t understand that 30$ a month is a LOT of money for working people, especially people splitting housing to survive. I don’t expect it to be free but their competition chooses the “free with ads and constant upselling” angle so you can come to your own conclusions.

Waste of time

I’m sorry but if you force your users to PAY to receive messages AND even delete you listing your email if you try to put in your listing, then this app is complete of time and energy. There are plenty of other options that don’t force you to pay to receive messages.
UPDATE: the response that says most apps charge for ‘services’ which in this context means messages, is a blatant and INSIDIOUS LIE.
Also DO NOT CALL ME YOUR CUSTOMER I AM NOT YOUR CUSTOMER

Account deleted automatically and can’t reinstate

A few mins after signing up, you deleted my account automatically and advised me to contact support if it was a mistake. But when you contact support, a bot tells you to navigate to a support webpage to submit a ticket, which you can’t authenticate into precisely because the account is blocked. What a stupid headache.

Edit: I’m providing a reply to the developer’s response to my review. I work in technology and manage bot-defense tools. False positives occur all the time, so blocks aren’t always for valid reasons. The callout here was that contact customer service about it was impossible because the verification process put me in a loop. Also, as it’s been several weeks since originally encountering the issue and sharing this review, I’ve since found a roommate on a competitor platform and don’t need this issue fixed for myself anymore anyway.

The location in town is everything

Subscription to app

Subscription to utilize app should be noted as a problem.

Verify email pops up every time you open app.

This app is not real

Roomster is a total scam. Do not subscribe. You are giving away money to disingenuous people. This app should be removed.

Removed account for no reason

My account got removed after talking about horror movies. When I asked for support they removed access to contact them.

Worst app ever. No on time customer support

This is the worst app ever I have seen. I subscribed for the services and all of sudden my account was removed. Worst thing is there is no customer support available.
Also they flood your mail box with tons of email. The app suddenly goes down frequently for maintenance no idea when.
I wound not recommend this

Pay wall

I find it so abysmal that you would lock messages behind a $20 or more pay wall. What’s the point of having an app to find rentals and roommates if you can’t even get in contact with them?

Paywalls

I got a message from a potential landlord but couldn’t view it without paying money. No thanks…

Not great

I’m paying $30 for one month to

- read a bunch of random posts
- with no pictures of the place
- for the wrong loc

and no filters or way of improving it

i can’t even clear all the messages that are too old or rented easily, literally one by one

its craiglist but a nightmare
