About

REVIEW ACCESS Launch Roost and tap “Explore the demo account” on the sign-in screen. No username, password, invite code, or email verification is required. This opens a fully onboarded review profile with populated Discover, Likes, Roomies, and chat screens. All visible demo profiles are simulated. The backend will remain live throughout review. FUNCTIONS AND TARGET AUDIENCE Roost is a roommate compatibility and messaging app for United States adults age 18 and older, particularly students, new graduates, and young professionals. Members create profiles, enter housing and lifestyle preferences, discover potential roommates ranked by practical compatibility, send handshakes, match and chat. Roost helps people evaluate roommate compatibility. It does not list or sell housing, act as a landlord or broker, conduct background or credit checks, determine housing eligibility, execute leases, or process rent, deposits, subscriptions, purchases, or other payments. FEATURE ACCESS Demo review path: 1. Launch the app. 2. Tap “Explore the demo account.” 3. Use Discover to browse profiles and send a handshake. 4. Open Likes to review incoming handshakes. 5. Open Roomies to view matches and enter chat. 6. Report is available on member profiles and in the chat options menu. 7. Block and Unmatch are available in the chat options menu. 8. Data export, analytics controls, logout, and account deletion are under Profile → Settings. Normal registration uses email/password, date of birth, Terms acceptance, email verification, profile creation, photo selection, roommate preferences, and questionnaire completion. EXTERNAL SERVICES Vercel hosts the application/API and uploaded profile images through Vercel Blob. Neon provides PostgreSQL database hosting. Resend delivers verification and operational email. Upstash Redis provides rate limiting and abuse prevention. Sentry processes scrubbed crash, error, and performance diagnostics. PostHog processes limited product-interaction analytics and can be disabled in Settings. Have I Been Pwned may perform a k-anonymity breached-password check without receiving the password or complete hash. Authentication is Roost’s own email/password system. There are no payment processors, advertisements, third-party login providers, or generative-AI services. Roost does not send member data to Anthropic Claude or another AI API. Compatibility uses Roost’s deterministic rules-based algorithm and does not make housing-eligibility decisions. REGIONAL AVAILABILITY Roost is available only in the United States. Its features and content function consistently throughout the supported territory. There are no state-specific feature differences. REGULATORY AND CONTENT RIGHTS Roost does not operate in a regulated medical, financial, real-estate brokerage, or housing-transaction industry. No regulatory credentials are applicable. Member content is user-generated and governed by Roost’s Terms. Demo profile content is simulated/licensed. The app does not provide protected third-party media.
