About

Rote arranges the televisions of a household into rooms you name yourself, and gives each room its own scenes. Phone and sets talk over the Wi-Fi they already share. A scene is a named list of steps that runs in order: set on, pause three seconds, open a channel, volume down four steps. One tap runs the list. Rote starts at your rooms, not at a keypad. Every room card carries the televisions in it, whether each one has answered, and the scenes pinned to that room. Moving from the set in the living room to the set in the bedroom takes one tap and leaves everything else as it was. A single scene can address more than one television. Scenes are yours to build: - Steps to choose from: power on, power off, open a channel, switch input, volume up or down by a number of steps, mute, any key of the remote, and a pause of 1 to 15 seconds. - Point a step at one particular television, or at whatever set stands in the scene's own room. - Drag steps into another order, duplicate them, throw them away. - Read the whole scene back in plain words before running it. - Watch a run as it happens: every step reports its own result, and a summary closes the list. A full keypad is one tap from the room card, for the moments when a scene is not what you want: arrows around an OK, back and home, rewind, play or pause, fast forward, instant replay, the volume pair and mute, the channel list read from the set itself, an input picker on televisions that carry inputs, and a field that types into whatever search box is open on screen. Adding a television goes two ways, side by side on one screen: search your Wi-Fi, or key in the address the set shows under Settings, Network, About. Built for hands and eyes that need room. Controls are real buttons, generous ones, each with a spoken label for VoiceOver. Text follows Dynamic Type all the way up. Light and dark are drawn separately, and Settings holds the choice between them. The household stays where it was made: rooms, televisions and scenes are held in one file and go nowhere. Rote asks for no account, measures nothing, and calls no service anywhere. Works with Roku® streaming players and Roku® TV models on your Wi-Fi network.
