What's New in Route 66 Centennial Guide

2.2

August 2, 2026

Version 2.2 – Missouri Field Update This update is the result of a July 2026 research trip along Missouri's stretch of Route 66 — visiting 46 of the 47 sites in person, talking with owners and staff, and correcting the record wherever real life had moved on from what was in the app. Corrected & Updated: • Refined GPS coordinates at several Missouri sites for more reliable turn-by-turn navigation • Diamonds Restaurant (Villa Ridge) — corrected after confirming the building actually survived the 2025 tornado • Sunset Motel (Villa Ridge) — updated to reflect fire damage discovered on-site • Munger Moss Motel, Wagon Wheel Motel, and Shamrock Court — refreshed with current ownership and operating status • Red's Giant Hamburg (Springfield) — corrected to point to the true historic location • Route 66 State Park / Meramec Bridge — updated with the latest on bridge restoration plans • Route 66 Neon Park — now reflects newly installed historical placards New to Places to Eat & Drink: • Rise & Grind Coffee, serving drive-thru coffee out of the original 1945 Miller's Station building • Rich's Famous Burgers, now occupying the historic Carr Phillips 66 Station in Cuba Plus a range of smaller wording and detail refinements across other stops, all aimed at keeping your road trip companion as accurate as the road itself.

Must Have App for Rt 66!

We were looking for an app to help navigate Rt 66. This was just what we needed. Being able to connect with Apple maps was extremely helpful. There were so many interesting stops listed that we would have missed otherwise.
Very easy to use! Thanks for putting this together.

Response from developer

You are most welcome. Your recent purchase has qualified you for our Buy-One-Get-One July sale. Write us at dave@showrods.com to learn how to get a FREE download either: • The Pacific Coast Highway Almanac, or.... • The Natchez Trace: An Ancient Road You can have either app for free and browse through them, learning about the history of these heritage roads, even if you are not planning to travel them anytime soon (or give the freebie away to someone who DOES plan on going on one of these roads!). Free apps get lifetime updates, just like paid apps. --PDR Heritage Roads

GREAT LOCATION INFORMATION PROVIDED

I just started getting familiar with this new Route 66 APP and was EXCITED with the level of history and background details provided for each location. We just stopped at one and I provided a correction to the developer who IMMEDIATELY responded to make the update. I was IMPRESSED with his passion for Route 66 and desire to immediately make improvements. Kudos for that effort!
