Doesn’t score properly

I downloaded this to get a small discount from my insurance. However after using for two months I find it doesn’t score properly. The other day I went with a friend on a day trip. He drove in his own car and I was a passenger. After the trip was over and I looked at the app and I selected “passenger” for each of the trips where my friend drove. (Before I did so it recorded several “events” of distracted driving since I looked at my phone to check texts from my boss.
When you are a passenger the app states that any events are taken out of the equation, the app explicitly states this fact. However when I selected passenger for the trips in which I was a passenger, the app did remove the “events” but the app dropped my overall score by 5 points. Which is not right.
I thought it would take a little while to update and fix my score but it did not.

Also there are a few metrics this app uses to rate you. One metric, “Time of Day” has consistently remained at Zero regardless of when I’m driving.
In my view this app does not accurately assess your safe driving record, I doubt I’ll continue using it in the future.
I do not recommend!

I wish I could give 0 stars!

I installed this app to save on my insurance. It is terribly inaccurate. It gave me 4 “dings” for phone use, when my phone was mounted to my dash, and no one touched it. I thought it might have been a fluke, but it’s happened several times since. I get sudden braking dings when I absolutely do not sudden brake. Which is insane anyway, because why should we be penalized if someone else pulls out in front of us? Currently getting quotes from other companies.

Flawed

If you have a faulty collecting app like this, you will have faulty data.
Insurance companies have been duped, or they want flawed data for excuses to raise rates.

Within 2 weeks of my trying, flaws in app already appearing. Though my trips clearly say I drive in the daytime, between 8a and 6p, without exception, it has 80% of those same trips labeled as “late night” time of day category.

As a former IT admin, I know of NO app that needs to be Always On, if coded correctly. A better approach is to let a user simply signify when they are taking a trip, like we do when we exercise…OR, to tie use to a vehicle - Not a phone. Always On begs data inaccuracy. So there is something else they are gleaning, though they say they aren’t.

I find it interesting the app is supposed to be about better driving, but it doesn’t really tell you PRECISELY what those are? Define “late night” and Time of Day? You won’t find it stated anywhere. Define what discount percentages are given at what point, time or trips? Is Time of Day a factor? You won’t find that either.

The paltry 5% savings isn’t worth my handing over my data, which my 45 year perfect driving record should be plenty, to substantiate. That’s how they used to determine things.

REMOVE “TIME OF DAY”

I have this app for an insurance discount. They need to remove “time of day” as a factor in your score. I can never get my score where I want it to be because I have to drive at certain times of the day. News flash, people work and have to drive at inconvenient times. It’s so frustrating that my score is down so low because of the time of day I NEED to be driving.

There has to be a better way!!

So tired of having to go in and say I am a passenger and not a driver!! Im sorry but after so long if you see I never touch my phone when I am driving then you should know that on the times my phone is touched then I am a passenger. Especially when I am on a long road trip and you give me 73 events!! I give up…give me a bad score. I will gladly lose my discount to never have to open your app again!!

Inaccurate

First use I pulled over into a parking lot and stopped completely in a parking spot to pull up a drive-thru code, it took me five seconds while stopped in a parking lot to do this. After retrieving the code I sat and waited in a drive-thru line. It is encouraged to pull over if you need to use a phone. I completely sat in a drug-thru and it dinged me for an event for looking at a code while stopped in a parking spot and even continued that trip while I sat in the drive-thru. There is a second trip I was actually not driving during that I used to test this app. I never used my phone as a passenger, never logged in to the phone, as a passenger, nothing at all but it dings me for an event using the phone. Today I sat in the right lane and I check my speed frequently and I never once sped. I was passed by 90% of drivers as I went 5 miles under the speed limit but it said I was speeding. I’m sure the drivers around me would be more frustrated if I went more than 5 under. Please fix the inaccuracies in this app! Thank you!

Added note: my charging ports are loose on my phone and in the stereo I plug my phone in. So when I hit a bump and the charging cord comes loose and the stereo says reading it acts like I’m using the phone. The phone is not even being touched and the Lock Screen just flashes on but never even gets swiped up. It acts like you use the phone even in the passenger seat just over the charger reconnecting over an Ohio pothole. I guess not only inaccurate but a plug to force you to upgrade your phone. This app is grading driving it should be able to tell that you’re not actively touching your phone and decipher bumps etc.

App crashing

This app has been crashing for months now. I’m not sure what the issue could be.

Not accurate

Had the app for one day and recorded a trip where I wasn’t driving and reduced my score for being on my phone

Invasive, inaccurate, and not worth it

I signed up for this app through Farm Bureau to save a measly 5%. The “events” that it penalizes me with is driving in rush hour and at night. Are you kidding me? It suggests that I drive during the day and not during peak hours. I’m sure that’s great for reverse vampires, but I drive a lot at night and during the rush. Hello? I have a job.

Then it penalizes me for being a distracted driver. Yeah, I use apps. I listen to music, podcasts and YouTube all of the time. That’s my right. And I’m not going to set something BEFORE I leave and let it roll. If I stop for coffee at a drive-thru , I’m going to switch to something (new video or song). I don’t “watch” anything while driving. My phone uses apps in the background. Heard of Life365? Yeah, it penalizes you if you have that running. Siri? Other A.I. apps? Phone calls? Yep, it penalizes you for everything.

Look here, Routely. My phone doesn’t magically turn into a rock when I’m in my car. It RUNS. I function as an adult with my phone. And it runs better without your battery-draining, hot garbage app. Your maps, routes, and speedzone tracking are way off and are outdated. I’ve braked hard and it doesn’t show up in the events.

To summarize, this app fails on about every front. The interface is SO 2008 and isn’t intuitive at all. It relies on features that are obscure and confusing. And it doesn’t provide enough detail to actual help and educate drivers. I’m bringing this up at the next Farm Bureau meeting that I’m attending and my review there will be just as harsh. As for consumers, don’t bother with this app. It’s a complete and utter waste of time.

An ok app

Waiting to see if the discount is worth the headache with this one. It’s a bit inaccurate and really drains your phone battery. This app is in the top three of my heaviest usage apps.

Needs a way to report inaccurate data

The app is pretty good i guess. I like that it lets you place if you are a passenger or a driver for something. My only problem is that it ruined my perfect driving streak because it said i was driving 10 mph above the limit but the app recorded the limit as 40 mph when i was actually on the highway and the speed limit is 60 mph. So i wasnt actually driving over the speed limit and theres no way to report their error. But again, it ruined my perfect little streak ☹️

App records any trip in any car, not just yours

One of the main problems I have with this app is the fact that it tracks your mileage, even if you are the passenger in someone else’s car. If you set it to passenger it won’t affect your score if you’re on your phone or the person driving is speeding at all, but it’s still gathering info to track how many miles you’ve supposedly driven by the end of the year. Why isn’t there a device that goes in your car like the drive safe program so that it follows YOUR vehicle and not someone else’s? I got this app because it came with cheaper insurance company option but I don’t know that it’s even saving me money. It also does not have accurate speed limits so it says you’re speeding even if you aren’t. Super annoying

Fix face recognition

I put my phone in a cradle on my dash and it picks up my face a few times each drive and your stupid app digs me for “ driving, distracted” and I never touch my phone. And we need to be able to report when it has the wrong speed limits.

Doesn’t track trips

The diagnostic is ok, but still the app doesn’t track trips… I even lost my policy discount because of it just failing to track my trips
If you try to reinstall it, it will not let you in with your activation code. So stupid, I had to change my code via insurance company

INACCURATE

Been using the app a month and half now. First my (Time of day) score is less than at the half mark. I rarely drive at night. Plus how can someone dictate what time I drive? I feel like that a invasion of privacy. Second the speed limits are inaccurate. Regardless I speed or not my score doesn’t do past 7.0. I have had perfect driving weeks and my score is just that. I have had weeks with a few distractions and speeding and my score dropped. As far as the distractions score.. I use my GPS on my phone and listen to my music while driving. OH WELL..

Can’t open the app

The app crashes before it fully opens. I was able to use it for a few weeks before this. If I delete the app and redownload, I’ll get penalized by my insurance for deleting the app. I’m sure I’d need a new code, which is linked to my plan. Guess I’ll just get demerits for the way others drive while I’m in their vehicles since I can’t change the trip type!

God awful app

This app just puts me as the driver every single time and I always have to change it manually.

Penalties

The way this app penalizes is quite ridiculous. I pulled out of my parking spot and forgot to start my navigation app, parked and started it, I had not even left the parking lot and it pinged me for distracted driving. Also there needs to be a way for your passenger to use your phone to change music, add stops on the gps etc and not be pinged for it. I’m also annoyed that it pings me for the time of day that I drive. I’m sorry, let me only leave my house, work, or school during the time you feel it’s appropriate…

Must be stopped

This kind of app invades privacy. It promotes distracted driving by making you think more about the app than driving the car. Also it can’t differentiate between a passenger and a driver. Also they should make the app available as a test to learn if it drains your phone causes bad driving habits etc before agreeing to use it for a few dollars off premiums.
