About
Rowbed draws your raised beds to the inch, fills each square with the right number of plants, and tells you when to start seeds, transplant and harvest — from the frost dates of the NOAA station nearest you.
BEDS, FREE AND UNLIMITED
• Enter width and length in feet-and-inches or centimetres. Half squares are kept, not rounded away.
• Tap a square to plant. Big crops (squash, melons) take a 2 × 2 block automatically.
• Each square shows how many plants fit — 16 carrots, 9 bush beans, 4 lettuce, 1 tomato — and you can override spacing per planting.
• Press and hold to move a crop; undo is one tap. Lift a crop and its good and bad neighbours light up around it.
• Drag the season ruler and the bed redraws for that day — spring lettuce back in its square, fall garlic not yet in.
• Your own plants: add a variety or a flower the list doesn't have; it gets planting dates and reminders like any other.
PLANTING DATES FROM YOUR FROST DATES
• Automatic frost dates are United States only: the station table is NOAA's. Anywhere else you type your last and first frost date once, and every planting window is calculated from those.
• Type a ZIP code and Rowbed picks the nearest of 6,948 NOAA stations with 1991–2020 freeze normals. The ZIP is sent once to Apple's geocoder to find your area, is stored only on your phone, and goes nowhere else. Or set the two dates yourself.
• Start-indoors, transplant, direct-sow and fall-sowing windows for 92 of the 110 crops, compiled from university extension guides. The other 18 are perennials and woody fruit — rhubarb, mint, lavender, blueberries — which carry spacing, companions and days to maturity, but no sowing window, because they aren't sown to a frost date. (Fava bean is the one annual without one: no extension service publishes a date for it.)
• Mark a planting as in the ground and see its harvest window, then a countdown on Today until it opens.
• Today shows what to sow this week, what's ready, and which empty squares could take a crop right now.
ROWBED PRO
• Planting reminders from your own frost dates — start indoors, transplant, sow, harvest, and a week's notice before each frost. They stop the moment a crop is in the ground.
• Log watering, feeding, weeding, notes and harvests per planting.
• Start next year from this year's layout; every square then shows what grew there before, and beds warn where a plant family repeats.
• Export the whole season as CSV.
WHAT ROWBED DOESN'T DO
No account. No location permission. No ads. No seed shop. No AI plant doctor. Once your frost dates are set, beds, dates and the journal work offline.
Rowbed Pro comes three ways: a yearly subscription that starts with a one-week free trial for new subscribers, a monthly subscription with no trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Every price is shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. Beds, plants, planting dates, companion warnings, reading everything already in your journal, and backups are free, and stay free in every 1.x version.
Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the trial or current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account; manage or cancel in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.

Planting dates, harvest estimates and companion notes are estimates from NOAA climate normals and public extension guides — not advice. Reminders are local notifications and best-effort.
