Great realisation of the game of UR

I really like this game and I remember when the rules were found 40+ years ago. The computer logic could be improved it wins about 1 in 5 games. I think it focuses on getting its pieces of the board as the priority. If it were more aggressive in attacking the opponents pieces it would win more games.

A decent way to learn to play

I thought this was overall a well executed game despite some minor flaws, like the pieces overlapping the dice when you’ve removed 6 pieces (does not affect game play)I just purchased a set and wanted a basic way to learn to play. The other app for this game (ancient games) is better executed, but wont allow you to play on this shape board until you reach level 15 which takes many hours to reach.

I find it amusing that one of the other reviewers is quibbling about the rules, I guess they must personally know some Sumerians lol. The rules used for this app are consistent and logical and are probably as likely to be “correct” as any. For two bucks a good deal. No ads. Would purchase again.

Can’t see what you rolled!

Did they actually even TEST this game? When your sixth piece is moved off the board, it covers one of the dice triangles, so you can’t tell what your roll is! 😡

Game needs to be more know

Super fun game. Great game okay. Graphics are just fine. Definitely needs more people to play so I can actually face people online. The computer gets boring

It’s all wrong lol

I’ve done a good amount of research, spending a few days making sure i knew the rules and this isn’t it. First of all it’s a one way race to the end of the board, not around the board and back. Secondly, all roses are a second toss, whereas this seems to be random. Lastly there are four dice that give you a 50/50 shot, not this 3 random “die” shuffle it gives you. It’s a decent game in itself, but if you’re looking for “The Royal Game of Ur” this isn’t it. I wouldn't have paid for a disloyal remake of the game had i known. Honestly I’d rather have my $2 back!!!

A.I. Is way too lucky

This game could be great but as soon as you make the turn to come home, the computer always gets the roll it needs to send you back to the start. You can beat it, but it takes a lot of rounds. At that point it gets boring and want to quit. I play the real version of this game and it’s so much better. Computer dice rolls are never truly random. This game is terrible at dice rolls. Wish I could get my money back.

Needs work

Poor graphics, no options for variations in rules, primitive UI. For the price, it needs much to be improved.

Wrong rules

Developer didn’t do any research at all, probably just copied a game that was also incorrect!

Good game if you like games like Backgammon 👍

Good visuals with the board showing the original symbols. Even the triangular shaped dice used in ancient times give the game an authentic feel. However, even though such ancient games were played with variations, I prefer the typical play as described by Dr Finkel at the British Museum. If this app was updated to allow for this as well as the present mode of play permitted by the app, I would play it even more.

AI does not seem to be random

This game is not fun when played against the AI. The statistical probability for the AI to get the exact number it needs to remove an opposing marker seems to be very high while the player's probability seems more in-line with random. Adding the higher probability does not make a smarter AI...just one that "cheats" to win.

Works well, wrong rules...

The app itself is fine (though it does reset if you close it) but the rules of the game are incorrect.

Dice response

As the person who did the programming, I can tell you first-hand that the randomization function is exactly the same for the player as for the computer opponent. 🙂

Bad AI and loaded dice for computer

It seems like the game maker couldn't figure out how to make the computer smart, so instead they loaded the computer's dice. They roll 4s many, many more times than you will. Still pretty easy to beat, but feels cheap and frustrating when it happens.

I don't know if this game gets a little like tic-tac-toe if the players are balanced, or maybe two good players will end up having to play for hours, but the loaded dice solution isn't ideal in any case.

Completely Frustrating

The computer will win this game 10 times to your 1! The computer "rolls" fours (with extra rolls) multiple times while you get rolls of 1s over and over. If you have any pieces open, they will be sent back to start while you generally land 1 space before or after the computer's piece. A VERY maddening game.

Alright

Of the three ur games I have tried this one is the most confusing cause it only has one rule, doesn't explain how the squares work, and for some reason doesn't let your opponent take his turn if you've rolled a zero (there's no dice in this game but ancient stick rollers that's why you can roll a zero). Perhaps if it's updated it might get better?

Game freezes

Good game but the game freezes when the the turn is skipped because there are no turn in round. I mean when my opponent (computer) has no turn and his turn is skipped the game freezes. Please fix

Buggy!

Haven't been able to play a complete game yet. Each time it gets stuck and play just halts. For example, my last game, I rolled the dice and couldn't move so the game popped up with message that my turn was skipped, but the computer never took her turn. So I couldn't take my turn, the computer wasn't taking her turn. I guess the game is over?

Great game

I have had this game for a while and it is a joy to play. I have just won my thousandth game and it has stopped counting now, just 1and 3 dots, it's a pity, perhaps this could be rectified in the next upgrade. I find it challenging to play and would gladly recommend it to all.

Disappointed

I used to enjoy this game a lot, but no more. Why couldn't you make it backwards compatible to earlier iOS versions as other app developers have done?

Ehhhh

I wish it had all the other ways to play it. The board game I have has different rules so I was it were different
