The one I’m using

I have several sound apps for D&D (at least 5), and this is the one I’m using.

I like being able to make a set of sounds and 🎶, alter their settings, and invoke or stop them with a click.

If this update lets me add my own sounds… it will be the ultimate. Nothing will be impossible!

When I first downloaded it, I used a couple other apps as some of it wasn’t intuitive. I was always left wanting with the other apps. When I came back and figured out how this app worked it became my go-to app.

Nice work. Keep it up. I’m loving it.

Absolutely amazing

They have just enough with the free downloads that there’s more than enough to work with. And the ability to customize a combination of sounds to have delays just makes it even better. It makes me want to start looking up which ones I wanna buy now to further enhance it.

Response from developer

Josh, thank you so much for the incredible 5-star review. It means a lot to hear that the free content already gives you plenty to play with, and that the custom combinations with delays are helping you shape the exact atmosphere you want for your sessions. Hearing that it even inspires you to explore more packs is the best compliment we could ask for. I’m constantly working on new sounds and improvements so you can take your adventures even further. If you ever have ideas, feedback, or need help choosing your next pack, feel free to reach out on Discord or through any of my social channels. Thanks again for your support and for being part of the community!

Updates?

Is the update to add your own sounds available yet?

Response from developer

Hi cceramamics, now you can add your own audio files, please, update and enjoy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey @Cceramanics! 👋 it’s almost ready! 🧙‍♂️ I’m planning to release the update within about a week. It’s one of the biggest features I’ve worked on, and I can’t wait for you all to try importing your own sounds soon! 🎶🔥 Stay tuned here for the announcement! 🚀 You can also join RPG Master Sounds Discord community 👩🏻‍💻

Awesome soundboard !

I use this for my Heroquest sessions with friends. Everyone loves it and it adds immersion!

Game Changer

This sound board is fantastic. It offers a large range of free sounds right from the start, adding music, ambience and hundreds of other miscellaneous sounds to game night. My HeroQuest players won’t let me play without it!

You can also purchase a large selection of other sound packs. I would recommend this, as the sounds are high-quality and the packs are cheap!

The developer regularly updates the app and irons out bugs, making this app worth investing in. The only bug I’ve noticed is one where sounds (sometimes) default to looping/repeating after being saved to only play once.

All up, a great sound board for any RPG games night.

Love this but…

Love using this on my iPhone but I can’t find where to buy more packs. It just comes with the basic pack. When I look up videos I see some sounds that are not on my version. I would purchase more if I could.

Response from developer

Thanks, Mikeray! I’m glad you’re enjoying the app on your iPhone. To find more audio packs, just head to the bottom right corner of the app, where you’ll find the navigation menu. From there, go to the “Download” section—there are plenty of audio packs available for you to explore and download! For any further assistance you can contact me by email (Appingtown@gmail.com), Discord, YouTube, etc.

I love It!

This is the best soundboard I’ve ever downloaded please make more!

Response from developer

Thank you, Adrian! I'm thrilled to hear you think it's the best soundboard you've ever downloaded. Your enthusiasm inspires me to keep creating. Stay tuned for more updates and new sounds!

Ok so I do really like this but…

My only real complaint is that I can’t find a way to add my sounds to this. Other than that this is a great app very reasonably priced. Been trying to find some kind of sound board for dnd games for a while and this seems like a great fit.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your positive review, Underwaterman! I'm glad to hear that you find the app great and reasonably priced. I wanted to let you know that I'm currently working on adding the feature to allow users to upload their own sounds. Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for your support and suggestion!

Almost the best RPG soundboard

I’ve been using this for a few months now to add atmosphere to my tabletop games and it’s worked well. The UI is one of the best I’ve come across and configuration level meets my needs as a DM (custom groupings, layered sounds, individual configuration and a good range of sound packs). The one thing that would make this 5 stars would be the ability to use add custom .mp3 sound files. I’m running games where I want to add specific sounds or samples but there’s no way (that I’ve found) to do this. It doesn’t need to allow many (perhaps 10) and I’d even pay to unlock this as a feature (as you do with the sound packs).

The recent update has been generally positive and an improvement on iPad. The only step backwards seems to be the moving of the repeat option ( and volume) for sounds to a sub menu, so not so quick to turn on an off, and not easy to see which sound is on repeat once set (which can be confusing if running several layers of sound and trying to run a game). If this can’t be returned to the top level (perhaps for the large icon view?) then a repeat icon over the sound when enabled would help.

The developer seems to provide regular updates and support which is great to see. So many developers release an app and then walk away.

Only other comment is that there seems to be the advertised spider sound missing from one of the packs (fantasy?).

Latest up date is insanely good.

This soundboard app was already best in class and I didn’t think it could get better. But it has!!! The enhancements to this app UI and UX is AMAZING!

Love, Love, Love!

I've tried a number of apps like these looking for the best board-gaming, dungeon-crawling, RPG soundboards. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but this one nails the #1 most important necessity: a simple ready-to-use-at-the-tap-of-a-button user interface. What good is having a great library of sounds if I can't punctuate jokes and gaming moments with an appropriate sound instantly?

I use an iPad (obviously) alongside a phone and another ipad or laptop while DMing. If I need a sound to play RIGHT NOW, I can't be scrolling through menus. The moment is lost. This app makes it easy.

The inclusion of Ambients and Sets is EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish I had the ability to add my own sounds. Don't get me wrong. The library of sounds and downloadable upgrade packs are fine. But there are some sounds that are more personal, maybe even inside jokes. Idiosyncratic sounds like the Wilhelm scream or the MarioKart starting signal or the Metal Gear "Guard Alert" sound, a fart sound, the intro to Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence". Basically memes. As it is, I have to have spotify or youtube open or even another RPG soundboard app that allows custom sounds open concurrent to this app. So please let me add sound files. Pretty please? I'll pay for the upgrade (but not a subscription).

Lastly, the monster sounds are kind of simple and some are extremely short and difficult to hear. They largely go unused. I usually do my own impressions of beasts and battle sounds anyway, but it is cool to hear actual clashing of swords or the sounds of moaning zombies 🧟‍♂️ coming down the dungeon hall (a sound not found in the packs, btw. In fact there aren't precious few dungeon-y sounds to be found 😕).

But again other apps are better at this particular thing by virtue of having "Dynamic" sounds. For instance, if I tap "Goblin speak" three separate times, it will play a different variant each time. Same thing if I tap "swords clash", dynamic sounds won't always play the same sound bite. This gives more variety and liveliness to the audio.

So, that's it. This is my go-to RPG soundboard app now, with the caveat that I will still need other sound effect apps to supplement it until I can add my own sounds and music loops to this one. Thank you!

Helpful tool

Adds a layer of ambiance that really adds something to the game

Concept

Concept is really good, I like that you can mute. all the sounds at once. At the beginning, it advises the “magic sound” will be free and we can take a survey to provide feedback. I figure, i haven’t tried out the app yet, so I can’t do the survey. So I try out the features, go to the shop and find a few free packs. The issues: 1. I downloaded the packs, they weren’t in the sound sets. 2. I noticed a activate sound set in the shop. Nope, that didn’t add the sounds. 3. I closed the program and reopened. Still not there. If this happens with free items, I could only imagine the frustration of someone were to buy the other sets and didn’t find them in the sound library. 4. Well, since I didn’t do the survey at the beginning, I figured I would mention it on the survey. No way to bring up the option to do the survey. Overall, these are features that could really bring down an app. The concept is great, purchases not showing up is extremely bad, and to top it off, not allowing a way to provide that feedback in a way you intentionally created a form for.

Update: you have to deactivate the sounds so they will show up in the library.

Response from developer

Hi RM Vice, thank you very much for using my app, and thank you for your detailed feedback. The survey was designed for veteran users of the app, so it only appears once at the beginning and it won't appear again until there is a new app update, which will be soon. Don't worry, you'll have your chance to fill in the survey, which is very useful and I appreciate it. Regarding an issue with the audio packs, please, Contact me by email Appingtown@gmail.com to see this in detail, your experience is my first priority. In the shop you can activate and deactivate packs in order to see then in the audio mixer. What you see in the shop is the status: “activated” means that you will be able to see all the pack’s sounds; “deactivated” means that your won’t be able to use this pack’s sounds. Please, email me and tell me more about your experience with my app, and it here is any issue, we will fix it.Thank you 😊🙏🏻

RPG sound effects for fun

Best part is it's free, AND WELL DONE.

Enjoy it.

Great app

Easy to use, fun, solid sound value. Definitely adds a great environment to any fictional game or story.👍🏻

Response from developer

Greetings NN, thank you so much for your feedback, and thank your very much for using my app. Very soon new functionalities and more sounds. Thanks 😊👍🏻

Sehr gute App

Ich habe mir 3 dieser Apps runtergeladen die ersten beiden haben nicht funktioniert aber diese hier sehr gut! Ich nutze diese App für DSA einfach Perfekt hat sich diese 5 Sterne berechtigt verdient

Wonderful app, but I want to know if ambiants I create here can be posted without copyright issues

This is an amazing app, but I was hoping to post some ambiants I made and was wondering how to credit the app or whether I’m even allowed to post them.

Response from developer

Hi The Cult of Gollum, thank you so much for using my app. The license that I pay for the audio tracks only allows the use of them within my app, since the purpose of the app is to be used in role-playing sessions, storytelling, board games and these types of scenarios. Therefore the audio output should not be used for posting on any social media or for personal or commercial purposes, sorry. Doing so could lead to copyright issues with the owner of the audio tracks used. Giving credit to the app would not work as the app does not own the sounds. Thank you 🙏🏻

You Found Treasure!!

I was looking for sound apps to add more life and depth to RPG sessions.
This beautiful gem of an app does almost everything right!! Individual buttons, volume sliders, filtering, sound layering, short sounds, looped music...
The interface is well crafted and intuitive, excellent selection of free sounds, with purchasable themed sound packs that can be previewed. What’s more to ask??
Perhaps the possibility to add custom sounds?
Thank you for this very useful tool!
