Nice basic app

This app has worked well in the past with my ID-52 but lately it has started crashing when I use the map function to see a station location. Annoying

App crashes on map screen

This app works for everything except when on the map screen. The entire application will crash when looking at the map section. Icom needs to fix this.

Almost perfect. App closes when opening the map and moving about. Annoying!

App closes when opening map! Annoying.

Fails with ID-52A Plus on iPhone 16 and iPad Pro

Update, 2025-06-05. Got further along but still not staying connected to the app. I was mistakingly trying to pair using the iPhone’s Settings: Bluetooth: Pair. However; just using the ID-52A Plus’s Bluetooth pairing function and then pair in the RS-MS1Ii app. It says paired but then a notification on the iPhone says not connected. Tried numerous iterations of settings from YouTubers but no luck. This app, as advertised by Icom for the ID-52A Plus, does not work for my iPhone 16 Pro and iPad Pro. This is the major reason I upgraded from ID-51A. Bluetooth is a very mature and well understood technology and so there is no excuse for Icom to not fix this ongoing problem.

Not for ID-50

It would not have been difficult to make this app function with a USB connection to an iPhone, but it is Bluetooth only, so it’s not compatible with the ID-50

iOS 18 does not work

ID-52 and does not stay connected to iPhone 15 Pro on iOS 18

Once again quick fix from the Icom Devs

I reported a connection bug a few weeks ago and the excellent devs from Icom knocked this out quickly. Thank you! Once again, I am an Icom user for life. Their support is second to none!

Useless

I bought the icon ID 52 plus completely unusable to program and now I’m out like 800 bucks wish I would’ve went with another brand. The only thing I can get the radio to do is whether an FM radio.

Don’t bother- doesn’t work

Clearly they no longer support this app. Bluetooth implementation no longer works. Android app works. Try that.

Rubbish

Does not work either on the IC-705 or ID-52. Brilliant radios but this software that is supposed to support them is absolute rubbish.

Works fine

The app works great for me. Connected to my 705 even from another room.

IS-52 and iPhone 13 won't connect

The app is worthless. Cannot connect to iPhone 13 Pro Max. Tried two phones. Pairs and connects, then drops the connection. Too bad. Gave up.

ID-52

Connects and immediately disconnects from iPhone 14 with most current iOS. such a frustrating waste of time. The app looks useful, but cannot get it to connect to the radio for more than two seconds.

Needs better pairing instructions

Took me a long time to figure out how to pair the app to my ID-52. It’s very counter-intuitive. The trick is to use the menu setting “pairing reception” on the ID-52 NOT the “pairing / connect” option as you would expect. Once I got the app connected it’s pretty amazing to be able to have stations appear on the map in real-time. I hope Icom will continue to work on the app as it would be interesting to see what else might appear in future.

Load of trash

Does not download a full list of repeaters no analog 2 or 70 , digital only absolute rubbish data is out of date does not support the id-52 waste of time

Doesn’t work

I was really looking forward to this having just got the ID-52a and I thought, for sure being that Icom has such a large presence here in the US for amateur radio that they would surely have an iOS app that would work well with their flagship HT being that the vast majority of people in the US use iPhones. Unfortunately, the app is completely unusable because the very first step of connecting through Bluetooth doesn’t work. It’s able to find the radio but it’s not able to connect the radio and phone. I have, of course, tried every possible solution and nothing works. A real disappointment, considering the manufacturers name.

IC-705

This app gets some bad reviews. It works for me and has some interesting features.

It works with my IC-705. It allows me to send and receive pictures along with view stations and repeaters on the map.

I tried the text feature but it did not work. The issue may be because the radio I was attempting to message using the text feature was an IC-9700.

Hopefully ICOM will continue to develop and improve this app.

Bluetooth connectivity

I have downloaded the app and tried to pair my iPhone 12 to my Icom ID-52. The phone will find the radio but when you tap connect the radio will not pair with the phone. I’ve tried resetting my phone and radio both. This review will be updated after the problem is corrected!!

Poor repeater list

The repeater list should be more extensive and include FM repeaters.
