The app worked amazing until they updated it. Now it will not load or let me reset a password or anything

Not a good experience, mostly broken

This app has promise but is fundamentally broken.

The most important feature navigation simply says “coming soon. Navigation is not available.

POI search returns “unable to load results”

I don’t know how this app got pass the apple review process.

This app had promise but it’s not usable in its current state.

Doesn’t Update

I really wanted to try this app, but it never updates. I’ve left it for hours on a strong internet connection and nothing. Totally freezes up.

At first it was great:(

When I first installed it it was great. I had set up an account and saved certain sites, ect….A few weeks later it wanted to do an update but never finished and I could not log in. Son deleted and reinstalled it. After that I tried to log in and said there was no internet. I was sitting next to our modem at home. I reached out to CS twice and no response. We leave to hit Route 66 and now I have to pint and find a new APP. Good thing there are a few out there.

Unusable now

I used this app a few years ago & it was a nice way to plan a great trip. I deleted it because I couldn’t get an update to download & the app stopped working altogether! I want to plan another trip so I tried again. It forces me to download & update but NEVER finishes! Ruined a really great app! I’m done!

Unusable

I couldn’t even get it set up. Every time I tried to create an account I got an error because of incorrect formatting. But it wouldn’t tell me what format was wrong. I also couldn’t get it to download anything. I have high speed fiber optic internet and after like 1 hour the dial was still spinning. I deleted and redownloaded twice and nothing worked. Essentially it does absolutely nothing. Also, the link to the app support takes you to a browser window that doesn’t open. So there is no app support.

Does not download data

This used to be a great app. We were planning to do another segment of Route 66 using this app. It will not complete download to update the data. It is now useless.

Never completes downloading offline content

This app promises turned by turn directions and points of interest, but those features require off-line content which never finish downloading. I gave it an hour with a strong fast Wi-Fi connection and then gave up. If there was even a progress bar that was rising I would’ve given it all night if it needed it, but all it gives you is a spinner and no way to tell if it’s even making progress so I’m not going to mess with it anymore.

Totally Crashed

I downloaded this app perhaps 5 months ago to plan my Route 66 journey. I was pretty amazed & pleased with all it had to offer. All set to use it for my trip starting on April 7th & 2 weeks ago it crashed - HARD! Keeps saying it needs to update navigation & loops for hours & hours to no avail. It never completes & will not function at all. Tried this again at least a dozen times with no luck. Deleted the app & reinstalled half a dozen times & still no luck. Had a friend download it so I could see if perhaps it was just my phone; & they had the same problem. Put in a Support ticket & I get an error message. This app has gone from the top to the bottom overnight. Very disappointed & scrambling for an app to replace it.

Update

Was an awesome app a few years ago. Now it tells me to update. Update never downloads and now I can even use the app anymore

Great idea, glitchy execution

Currently on Rt 66, and this is one of the apps I downloaded. I loved the virtual passport idea, but it often doesn’t work, and there is no way to stamp if you are not at the location (so drive-by locations or catching up later). Selections from menu don’t always take you to the right place (eg tap travel guide and end up at navigation). Lots of tapping to get places if driving, too - not good.

Great resource

I downloaded the first app you created a few years ago. This one has so much more information. I look forward to using it next year for the 100th anniversary of Route 66.
Thank you Scott. Your efforts are appreciated. I hope these get mailed out to everyone who request information on the Mother road to plan their trip. It Will make their journey so much easier.

You Get What You Pay For

I’m surprised how high the rating for this app is after using it for a day. I thought it was terrible. It wouldn’t register when I would get on the route and start directing me sometimes, and due to its weird navigation of only telling you when to turn as opposed to a typical map interface, it wouldn’t tell you when you were passing attractions or when you’d be passing them. Highly recommend the yellow app over this. It’s worth the $20 for the week compared to this free app. I wouldn’t be surprised if people got lost for a moment on the parts where cell service was weak

Nice Features But Very Buggy

The app has a lot of great features for navigating Route 66 but is VERY buggy.

As soon as you open the app it stop pods whatever music or podcast is playing even if you aren’t using the navigation.

It frequently stops navigating and is nearly impossible to get working again. Force quitting the app and reopening it works sometimes, but then it’s hard to tell if it’s actually working again or if it’s still broken until you hit a turn — often you have to rely on local signage instead.

The app also routinely crashes if you’re in navigation mode and tap a POI that’s inside another POI to try to check in for a passport stamp.

It’s also frustrating to use when you’ve accidentally gone off the route or taken an unsupported alignment, because then it’ll stop navigating until you hit another waypoint and hopefully start again.

I want to love this app but it’s so frustrating to fight with that I had a much better time closing it and just using it to find POIs to plug into my usual map software.

Would be great if everything worked

The navigation is great… when it feels like working. Here’s the issues I had. If you get off course, it stops working. It only gives you directions if you’re on the route. That wasn’t my problem. I’m ok with that. BUT… when you get back on course, it doesn’t always come back. They say you have to wait until you come to a point where direction is needed and then it will start navigating again but this isn’t true. Mine disconnected from me when I parked in St Louis. I walked to the Arch, took some pics, got back to my car and left. I got back on 66 and drove out of town, making several turns over the next few hours and the navigation never came back on. I messaged support and their response was basically “You’re wrong. There’s not a problem.” This happened to me several times during my trip. I messaged support again and they never bothered to respond to me a second time. I learned to just close the app, power off my phone, turn it back on and everything was fine. But when it was working, it was great.

My other issue is the Passport. I’d go to a Point of Interest and the app would say “Congratulations. Your Passport has been stamped.”. This happened a bunch of times. Yet I open my passport on the app, and there’s nothing. Just blank pages. My trip is now over but my stats are blank and says I’ve done 0 trips. It honestly feels like an app that’s still under development and most of the features just don’t work yet. I liked it. Definitely didn’t love it.

Would not download

This app did not download the information - even letting it try all night.

Works for POI options, but not navigation.

We drove from Barstow to Chicago. We marked interesting POIs, then used navigation button, which opened Google maps. But app navigation only worked occasionally. To stay on 66, we had to use another app as Google maps always wanted to direct us to interstate.

Won’t navigate you on the old route

Navigation from point to point uses Google maps and not the old Route 66. App is inconsistent. Some days it alerted to points of interest and told us our passport was stamped and other days not. Not all POIs along the route are included but there are too many so I get that. My guess is the POIs that paid to be listed are here.. so keep that in mind. Did not like that I had to scroll through cities already visited to get to current city. Use this app with the yellow logo Ultimate Route 66 and it works better for navigating and for a greater experience of the old road.

Wish it would work

The app is great when it works. I have had this app for several years and every now and then it updates the information. This time however, since I have not used the app for a few years is not updating as quickly as it used to. I ran the database update and it never updated after hours of saying updating. So I removed the app and installed it again. I get the same thing. It’s a shame it won’t update. This is the only free app for Route 66. Please look into your updating process.

“Data Not Collected”, Yeah, Right

If there is no data collected, please, tell me why you have to give your phone number and street address to create an account. Sorry, not buying it, app deleted.
