About

Take the governor’s chair. From the 2001 crisis to the pandemic, from the 2008 crash to Europe’s energy crisis: in 13 periods, guide inflation down the target path without losing growth, jobs or public approval. Run the Economy is an original central bank strategy game. Each month, convene the committee, hear your advisors and make your call: • Policy rate (CBRT), upper bound of the target range (Fed) or deposit facility rate (ECB) • Public message (hawkish, neutral, dovish) and forward guidance • Conditional commitments of up to nine months, term liquidity support • CBRT: funding spread, reserve requirements, FX purchases and sales • Fed and ECB: asset purchases or balance-sheet reduction • ECB from 2012: transmission protection support Tools unlock to match each bank’s powers at the time. Decisions take months to bite: rates hit credit, then demand, wages and prices, and finally expectations. The “Effects in the Pipeline” strip shows moves that haven’t landed yet; impatience costs as much as delay. ACCOUNTABLE EVERY QUARTER Data is released on its own schedule and sometimes revised. The papers run headlines, and you see what’s driving inflation. Then you face the press: a kept promise builds trust, a broken one costs dearly. THREE CENTRAL BANKS, 13 SCENARIOS • CBRT 2001 — From Crisis to Confidence: fragile banks, floating lira • CBRT 2018 — Currency Pressure: external funding, sudden-stop risk • CBRT 2020 — Pandemic Balancing Act: credit support, strained reserves • CBRT 2021 — Rapid Recovery: overheating demand, negative real rates • CBRT 2023 — Building Confidence: dwindling reserves • CBRT 2026 — New Equilibrium: disinflation from high rates • Fed 2008 — At the Edge of Zero: clogged credit, deflation risk • Fed 2013 — Scaling Back Support: exiting asset purchases • Fed 2022 — Fighting Inflation: price stability, maximum employment • Fed 2024 — Soft Landing: a cooling labor market, pacing rate cuts • ECB 2012 — One Currency, Separate Risks: weakening credit transmission • ECB 2022 — Energy Squeeze: gas supply, diverging borrowing costs • ECB 2024 — On the Cusp of Cuts: wage and services pressure, weak credit FIVE GAME MODES • Historical Mission: 24 months with the period’s crisis and tools • Classic Mission: the original eight scenarios and 24-month rules • Long Term: 60 or 120 months, annual report cards, crisis after crisis • Open-Ended Term: no fixed end; you can hand over the post after 12 months • Experiment Lab: no dismissal; test and compare paths Build a custom start for long, open-ended and experiment missions: inflation, confidence, credit cycle, banking stress, energy and foreign rates, even a stress shock. My Missions saves each one separately. REPORT CARDS AND REPLAY VALUE • AA to FF report cards, five early endings • Handover review in historical and long missions: the policy burden you pass on • Seasonal and conditional events, period-specific crises • Same seed, same conditions: race a friend, share your report card Free to download; existing free content remains available. Two optional packs are sold separately as one-time purchases, with no subscriptions. Crisis Atlas adds three crisis missions. Governor's Pack removes automatic interstitials, unlocks ad-free decision reviews, and includes two themes and the Supporter appearance. Undo and Second Chance still use voluntary rewarded ads. Ads require permission. Play offline; purchases and restoration require internet. No game account needed. Run the Economy is a fictional simulation. Scenarios draw on historical conditions; starting values are illustrative, not historical data or economic forecasts. It is not an official app of any central bank.
