Great App and Even Greater People

As a woman in her 30s, I wanted to be able to go on a run with some kind of comfort that someone knew where I was and would immediately know if something bad happened. This app gave me just that. When I was having problems with the app’s functionality, I reached out to their customer service and they were immediate in their response, kept me updated on the progress, and worked diligently to get the problem resolved. Because of that service, I stuck around and now the app is working exactly as it should. Great app and great people behind it!

Use Strava Beacon Instead

Really wanted this to work. After watching the documentary “Not Today” with Kelly, who is the co-founder of this app, I immediately signed up. I tried at different times for my husband to be notified on his phone of my run while he was at work, at the house & literally standing next to me. Nothing sent, nada, silent.

I hope they use the money I paid for a YEAR subscription to work out some BIG kinks. I now use Strava, which has beacon sent via text to your person. Although, like this app, I pay for it it works immediately through text and live tracking.

Hi VeganRunner1, June 3 2025 will mark RunBuddy's sixth anniversary. The day RunBuddy went live was a big moment for us. We had made the running community materially safer. At the time we thought of RunBuddy, the news had been reporting on the murder of several female runners. In addition to our thoughts and prayers, we decided to act. Had we not acted, we could have a beautifully landscaped in-ground pool, or a few new cars, vacations, or our kids' college tuition would be largely funded - all things any American would want. Instead, what I do have, is on my death bed, hopefully many years from now, as I take inventory of my life, our action through RunBuddy will give me comfort. I'm sorry you caught RunBuddy at a low moment. The app wasn't working perfectly. That's why in that same timeframe, we were building version 2.0 - to correct those issues, as well as bring RunBuddy to the point we dreamed of six years ago. Yes, your $9.99 annual subscription helped fund that. I'm also glad that you found a safety app that works for you. At the end of the day, we just want people to be safe. Onward! Scott S.

Apparently only option is google sign in

I contacted this company to inquire about other sign up options but received no response. I refuse to sign up/in using google sign in and you should too. If the company responds to this review. The only acceptable response needs to be that there are other options for sign up.

Hi basccwr! UPDATE: You can now create a RunBuddy account with your AppleID! Give us a shot! Thanks for your patience! -Scott S. Hi basccwr! Sorry if we missed your message! We just checked our emails, private messages, everywhere... but we can't find your note. Regardless, yes, we will offer sign up options other than Google - including Apple, Facebook, etc. The rub is, for us, there is a significant cost to make that happen. We could either invest in creating another door to entry... or use that same $$$ to make RunBuddy better! We have an update going live any moment that does just that - greater GPS accuracy, Strava compatibility, you can use RunBuddy as an activity tracker now, your Buddy can text/call you faster, etc - there's a lot in this next update! For now please bare with us. The additional sign ins are coming. Thanks for your patience! -Scott Sutter, COO
