Great app
This app is great because: 1. The stories build up with grammar and vocabulary very gently. I never had the feeling of being overwhelmed. 2. The audio is slow enough for a beginner to understand. 3. The range of knowledge in the stories is pretty large so you don’t outgrow it. 4. It’s created for Russian in particular, not a version of a general app. 5. Other apps are focused on getting you “useful” vocab/phrases fast. This app helps you understand the structure of the language, how to build sentences.

Amazing app!
I really enjoy this app as someone who grew up speaking Russian and wants to learn more. Being able to hear someone read the words out loud is so helpful for mastering pronunciation.
My only gripe is that I wish there was a dark mode feature. I often find myself reading at night before bed and this would make things so much easier.

Amazing
I’ve been learning Russian on and off for 3 years. This last year I really went all in on my learning. I didn’t use the app at first cause I didn’t want to pay but I saw there was a free trial and thought, “why not?” The best decision I have ever made. This app has made me so confident in my Russian reading abilities

Amazing app!

Love the app, it’s amazing and extremely helpful. I would love it even more if there was a dark mode that would be amazing!! Maybe sometime in the future? Thanks guys, please keep doing what you’re doing.

I asked them to include a “repeat button” so that the lessons would autoplay over and over. They didn’t do that but they created an option to listen to the audio of large swaths of lessons while you drive, work, sleep, etc…. Very helpful and cool! Very responsive support team and great lessons! The grammar guides are awesome!

Great Teaching Aid.
I especially enjoy the original stories in the beginner series. The stories, and artwork (compliments to the hard working artists and writers) of children and animals are charming and sincere. They remind me of sweet tales I’ve heard from young ones in Moscow.
Not a free app
If you are looking for a free or partially free app this is not for you. This app wants you to pay for any story. There isn’t even a free sample story. Not friendly for people who want to learn for free.

Gave it a 5 star rating (2 yearly payments since) and previously asked if a user feature could be implemented, see below. Since I never got a response, how about this: a pause feature, as a programmer I understand the challenges, I’m thinking of canceling my subscription otherwise. I’m positive it’d be a beneficial feature for other users as well.

Really enjoying this app. A lot of different stories for different levels that are entertaining. I come back to the app every now and again to read a simple story a few times to try and increase my vocabulary and work on grammar. Excellent supplement to other learning material you’re using.
Perfect App
It is quite easy to find ways on internet to learn Russian grammar and conjugation. I’ve always found it boring to learn vocabulary list. With this app, you get to read and listen stories over different topics with good accent and tone. It takes time but it is worth it.
Luckily I speak English but it would be great for others to have the possibility to translate the stories on other languages such as French or German. Thank you!

Please add a repeat button
It is absurd and primitive to not have a repeat button so that the stories continuously play.

The best resource so far for learning Russian
I've been trying to learn Russian for the past five years. Duolingo and Rosetta Stone's formats didn't really work to well for me. Babbel was great compared to those two, but only got me so far. The grammar guides in Russian Readers particularly have improved my understanding much more and much faster than any of the resources I've tried so far. I was about to call it quits before coming across Russian Readers and am extremely happy I gave it a shot. It's worth every penny.

Fantastic
The vocabulary is varied and the stories are sweet. I truly believe this app is the way to learn cases - looking at grammar tables will get you started but seeing the cases in practice really is the best way to learn them.
I think it could be improved slightly if the audio controls were just on the page alongside the story, instead of having to click them open, that would make pausing the audio a bit quicker 😁 and being able to click on a singular word to hear its pronunciation could be helpful too! But with this said, it’s still absolutely worthy of 5* as it is
