About
An independent guide to 131 chicken places in and around San Antonio, built entirely from public records — and it works with no signal.
Every listing carries its full health inspection history: 813 Metro Health inspections, every Food Code violation explained in plain English next to the inspector's own words, and a link to the authority's own portal so you can check us.
THE BIRD SCORE
One number from 0 to 100, computed from the public record by a formula published in full inside the app. Recent inspections count for more than old ones. A business resting on thin evidence is discounted for it. Published awards and city 311 complaints are both in the arithmetic. No business can pay to change its score, raise its rank, or have a low score taken down.
WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
The whole dataset ships inside the app. No account, no sign-in, and no network requests of any kind — the full inspection record is readable in a basement with no bars.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Sort by Bird Score, A–Z, last inspected, or nearest to you
• Filter to independents, chains, award winners or trucks
• Save a place and be told when it is inspected again
• Read every violation with its Food Code section and a plain-English translation
• Open any address in Apple Maps or Google Maps
WHAT THIS IS NOT
No Yelp stars and no Google ratings — we are not licensed to republish them, so we do not, and we do not invent our own in their place. No claim that anyone got sick anywhere. We publish inspection findings, dates and sources, and let you read them.
WHO PUBLISHES IT
Viking Net, which sells technology to restaurants — including some listed here. That is disclosed on every listing, and the formula is published so you can check for yourself that it is not tilted.
Inspection data comes from the City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District and the equivalent record in each surrounding jurisdiction that keeps one. Complaint counts come from the City of San Antonio 311 record. An inspection score describes one visit on one day — not a standing condition, and not a grade for the food.

Built for iPad. The guide now uses a proper split view on iPad: the list on the left, the full record on the right. It adapts to the window rather than the device, so Split View and Slide Over fall back to the single-column layout automatically. Method, About and every establishment record are now held to a readable line length instead of running the full width of the screen. Same data, same formula, still works with no signal.
