About

SafeFood reads the ingredient list on packaged food, so you don't have to squint at six-point print in a supermarket aisle. For adults aged 18 and over; an age check is required. Photograph the ingredient list. SafeFood transcribes what is printed, names the gluten- or milk-containing ingredients the label declares, and shows you the rule behind each one — so you can check its reading against the pack in your hand. CHECK THE READING Results show the finding alongside its evidence: the transcribed text, the matched ingredient and its explanation. For example, barley malt is identified as a gluten-containing ingredient. Tap any photo to zoom in and read the pack yourself. WHAT IT DOES • Up to four photos per scan, so a wrap-around label is one reading • The label's own words, quoted verbatim, with an English translation beneath • The matched ingredient translated too, so an unfamiliar language is readable • "May contain" warnings quoted exactly as printed, never graded • The manufacturer's own printed claim shown separately, attributed • Flags incomplete or unreadable text and offers a specific next step • Your scan history stays on your phone WHILE TRAVELLING Scanning is available only in supported countries and regions, including while travelling. See the service terms for availability. A label in a script you cannot read at all is where this stops being a convenience. The scan translates the ingredient list it quotes, with the original always on screen beside it. WHAT SAFEFOOD CANNOT DO This is the part that decides whether an app like this is worth having. • Cross-contact is invisible to a label read. What happened on a production line is not printed in an ingredient list. • A "may contain" warning is quoted, never graded — and its absence is not a safety signal. • A photo cannot measure the amount of gluten or lactose, or verify a claim on the pack. • Recipes change. A reading describes the pack you photographed, on the day you photographed it. • An AI reads the photograph, and it can misread. That is exactly why the transcription is shown to you rather than hidden behind a verdict. Always check the packaging yourself. PRIVACY No account is needed. No advertising, tracking across apps, GPS permission or analytics SDK. The service checks the country inferred from your IP address for regional availability. Your photographs are sent to a third-party AI service to be read and are not stored on our servers; your history stays on your device. The app asks for consent before scanning. The privacy policy explains AI-provider retention and the limited installation, subscription and technical records used to run the service. PRICING SafeFood includes a free monthly allowance of scans, and the app always shows how many are left. SafeFood Pro raises it to 150 scans a month with no daily limit. Choose a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The app shows your local price and current offer; a one-month free trial may be available to eligible subscribers. Cancel in your Apple Account settings at least 24 hours before the trial or billing period ends to avoid the next charge.
