What's New in Sagenverse

2.4.0

October 23, 2026

Introducing Artifacts (Beta) Up to now, everything in Sagenverse lived inside a Sagen — walk into the room, look at the object in place. Artifacts pull a single object out of that room and give it its own standalone viewer: a 3D model, a Gaussian Splat scan, or an image that a visitor can rotate, zoom, and inspect in AR on their own device, independent of the exhibit it came from. You can still drag an Artifact back into a Sagen scene as a regular room object — it's not either/or. This release is the first time Artifacts are visible to users. It's in Beta — expect the badge in the UI, and expect some rough edges. What you can do with it: Inspect a model, splat, or image on its own — pan, zoom, rotate, view in AR Edit materials per-artifact, with variant handling when you swap the source file Set EXR/HDR backgrounds and lighting for how the object is presented Place it in AR against a wall or a surface, with camera orbit limits you control Organize Artifacts into Collections, with thumbnails View and edit offline Save-conflict protection: if two people edit the same Artifact, you're prompted to keep your changes or take theirs, instead of silently overwriting Per-artifact and per-org analytics — views, sessions, engagement Also New: Sagen Model Proxies When you build a Sagen from your own 3D model, the full-resolution file is often too heavy to run smoothly in a live room. This release adds two ways to handle that: Auto-decimation: Sagenverse generates a lighter stand-in version automatically Custom proxy: upload your own lower-poly GLB to use instead, if you want control over exactly what shows up in-room Major Improvements Animation Triggers: new trigger volumes that fire GLB animations off simple room events (walk-in, click) Portals: back-travel support, portal history, and a confirmation step so an accidental drag no longer reads as a travel request Loading experience: new loading shader, smoother camera moves and progress feedback on scene load, full background blur during Artifact inspection Backend request hardening: every patch endpoint (room, org account, org group, user file, Artifact) now validates its request body, and organization patch requests are allow-listed Save-conflict reliability fix: a failed legacy 360 bridge was silently swallowing the save timestamp, which left the editor stuck re-triggering conflict errors until reload — fixed Minor Improvements User preferences and onboarding progress now persist server-side Collision protection when the same Artifact is open in two tabs or by two teammates at once Hide the animation control when a model has no animation Misc polish: reduced text pop-in on load, removed stray trigger-box outlines on cover images Bug Fixes Fixed rooms saving twice Fixed portal cancellation returning the user to the wrong spot Fixed false-positive portal clicks Fixed kiosk attraction-loop bug on Artifact collections Fixed a "recently viewed" regression introduced by the collections work Fixed restore-point failures when the underlying blob copy fails Fixed the scene properties tab reporting "not implemented" when color/lighting data was missing — now shows audio and hides what doesn't apply Fixed file cards sinking into walls Fixed a source-swap bug that could lose custom material/look data
