Sailor’s Companion is the sailing logbook that sails along: everything that matters on one screen, a thumb away — and as beautiful as sailing itself. A CHART THAT STAYS SHARP — AND GOES OFFLINE (PREMIUM) Drawn live, the chart stays crisp at every zoom, and sea marks appear wherever you sail. Draw a rectangle over your cruising area and that chart is saved to the phone: the same chart, the same sea marks, with no connection at all. Place names come from that same data: your logbook names your anchorage with no signal, and you search for places the same way. Twelve chart layers switch on and off one by one. PRESS AND HOLD THE CHART A card opens on the spot you picked: read off its position, find a place or type a coordinate, set a course there with GoTo, or leave a note — and tell OpenStreetMap when a sea mark is missing, wrong or gone. It is also where you drop your own markers, with a symbol, colour and note — they belong to the chart, not the voyage. WHAT YOU SAW, WHERE YOU SAW IT Whales, dolphins, seals, birds, turtles, sharks: hold the chart, pick the species, and the sighting stays put. The species list ships with the app, and sightings travel into the logbook, the PDF and a shared link. SHARE YOUR VOYAGE, LIVE Send one link and family and friends follow you in a browser while you sail: the track, anchorages and moorings by name, distance, time under way and speed. Nothing to install, no account, and only whoever holds the link can read it. EVERYTHING IN ONE TAP Log a manoeuvre or status change with a single tap on the status wheel; on the same screen you read SOG, COG and the miles sailed. ON YOUR WRIST AND ON IPAD The same status wheel on your Apple Watch: your status with SOG and COG at a glance, quick actions like Tack and Jibe under your thumb, and the whole trip in numbers. What you log out of range lands on the phone once it’s back. On iPad, landscape puts chart and logbook side by side, from the Pro down to the mini. GOOD SEAMANSHIP The latest forecast right in your logbook, quick observations in Beaufort, Douglas and oktas, and a status that knows whether you’re sailing, motoring or anchored — a hand with your navigation lights. TRACK AND MANOEUVRES, UNITED Your path is recorded to the metre and tied to every logged manoeuvre; miles sailed come from the real distance travelled. Colour your track by speed or status, and measure up to six routes at once, each with distance, bearing and a live ETA. SLEEP EASY AT ANCHOR Set a swing circle: the anchor watch keeps an eye on your position, sounds the alarm if you drag, and shows it on your Lock Screen. ONE BUTTON FOR PERSON OVERBOARD Press and hold and the app drops a person-overboard mark, starts the clock, and points you back with bearing and distance. TANKS AND BATTERIES AT A GLANCE Keep track of every tank and bank, log readings, and see how long fuel and water will last. YOUR BOAT’S INSTRUMENTS Connect to your NMEA 2000 network, directly or through Signal K: speed, heading and, if you like, your position come from the boat’s own instruments. Arrange the compass rose to show exactly what you want. SEE THE TRAFFIC AROUND YOU AIS vessels and sea marks with an AIS transmitter appear on your chart, each with a heading predictor and a detail card. Set a distance and the app warns you when a closest approach falls inside it. Pin a single vessel and it stays drawn, and warns you on its own. EVERY DEVICE IN SYNC (PREMIUM) Turn on sync and your logbooks, tracks and entries stay together across iPhone and iPad over iCloud — switch devices and keep sailing; only one device records at a time.
