About

Sailor’s Companion is the sailing logbook that sails along: everything that matters on one screen, a thumb away — and as beautiful as sailing itself. On your iPhone, on your wrist and on your iPad. A CHART THAT STAYS SHARP Drawn live instead of assembled from fixed images, the chart stays crisp at every zoom instead of going soft between steps. Labels stay upright, lines stay clean, and it redraws as you move. Roads no longer shout over the water — what stays bold, a prohibited area or a lit mark, means something again. Sea marks appear wherever you sail. TAKE YOUR CHART OFFLINE (PREMIUM) Draw a rectangle over your cruising area, choose the detail, and that chart is rendered and saved to the phone. It then works with no connection at all: the same chart, the same sea marks, in a foreign harbour or far out at sea. A whole-planet overview ships inside the app, so zoomed right out there is never a black void — and your logbook has always worked without a signal. EVERYTHING IN ONE TAP Log a manoeuvre or status change with a single tap on the status wheel. On the very same screen you read SOG, COG and the miles you’ve sailed. ON YOUR WRIST The same status wheel on your Apple Watch: your status with SOG and COG at a glance, quick actions like Tack and Jibe under your thumb, and the whole trip in numbers — without taking the phone out of your pocket. Complications put your voyage on the watch face you already use, and what you log out of range lands on the phone the moment it’s back. ON IPAD In landscape the app opens into a split view: the chart on one side, your logbook on the other, so you watch the track and read your entries at the same time. From the iPad Pro down to the mini. GOOD SEAMANSHIP The latest weather forecast right in your logbook, quick observations in Beaufort, Douglas and oktas, and a status that knows whether you’re sailing, motoring or anchored — a lovely hand in showing the right navigation lights. TRACK AND MANOEUVRES, UNITED Sailor’s Companion records your path to the metre and ties it to every logged manoeuvre. Miles sailed come from the real distance travelled. Colour your track by speed or status and see every log entry as a point on the chart. SLEEP EASY AT ANCHOR Drop the hook and set a swing circle: the anchor watch keeps an eye on your position, sounds the alarm if you drag, and shows it all on your Lock Screen — with a snooze for the quiet nights. ONE BUTTON FOR PERSON OVERBOARD Press and hold and the app drops a person-overboard mark, starts the clock, and points you straight back with bearing and distance. Built to be found fast, under one thumb. FUEL, WATER & BATTERY AT A GLANCE Keep track of every tank and bank, log top-ups and readings, and see how long your fuel and water will really last. PLAN YOUR ROUTE Measure a route right on the chart — drop points for distance and bearing, and read a live ETA at your current speed. YOUR BOAT’S INSTRUMENTS Connect to your NMEA 2000 network, directly or through Signal K, and your speed and heading come straight from the boat’s own instruments. The connection diagnoses itself and reconnects on its own if the signal drops. SEE THE TRAFFIC AROUND YOU Nearby AIS vessels appear on your chart, each with a heading predictor and a tap-through detail card — with true and magnetic heading sorted out for you. LIVE WIDGET SOG, COG and your status on your home and lock screen. One glance is all it takes. EVERY DEVICE IN SYNC (PREMIUM) Turn on sync and your logbooks, tracks and entries stay together across your iPhone and iPad over iCloud — switch devices and just keep sailing. Only one device records at a time, so handing a voyage over is clean, and nothing you’ve entered is ever lost. YOUR VOYAGE MEMORY At the end a beautiful PDF export awaits: the track on a map plus plenty of interesting statistics — to share with the crew, to print, or simply to relive. Sailor’s Companion — beautiful, simple, one tap away.

What's New in Sailor's Companion

1.3.0

August 13, 2026

Sailor’s Companion has a new chart — and you can take it offline. • A chart that stays sharp — it’s drawn live now, so it stays crisp at every zoom instead of going soft the moment you pinch between steps. Labels stay upright, lines stay clean, and the chart redraws as you move rather than catching up afterwards. • A chart that reads like a chart — roads no longer shout over the water, and what stays bold — a prohibited area, a lit mark — means something again. Sea marks now appear wherever you sail, not only where you’ve downloaded. • Offline charts (Premium) — draw a rectangle over your cruising area, choose the detail, and the chart is rendered and saved to the phone. It then works with no connection at all: the same chart, the same sea marks, at sea, in a foreign harbour, anywhere the signal doesn’t reach. Your current voyage’s chart is kept automatically. • A world map that’s always there — zoomed right out with no connection you no longer stare into a black void: a whole-planet overview ships inside the app, with countries and capitals in your language. • Your instruments on one screen — a new navigation panel with a compass rose that turns with the boat, showing wind, current, depth, rudder and autopilot, every value yours to arrange. AIS traffic and instrument names now come through reliably over NMEA 2000, and the link holds while you glance at another app. • Safer at anchor, truer on paper — the anchor watch now sounds the alarm if the GPS stops seeing your position, and the logbook PDF export is faster, with honest speed colours on your track. As always: offline-first, one thumb, out at sea.
