About

SAL is a suspension logbook for people who ride motorcycles for fun or professionally. Most riders keep this in their head or in a notes app, or on the back of a tyre invoice. Six months later the paper is gone and the guessing starts again. SAL keeps it, and — more useful — reads it back to you in an order that means something. BUILT FOR THE PADDOCK, NOT THE CLOUD: No account. No sign-up. No network connection of any kind. SAL does not collect, transmit or sell anything, because it has no way to — everything lives on your phone and goes nowhere else. It works in a field with no signal, which is where you might need it the most. MEASURE YOUR SAG PROPERLY: Three readings between the same two points every time: fully extended, the bike on its own, then with you aboard in full kit. The third reading is the one that matters. The gap between bike-only and with-rider comes purely from your weight, and no amount of preload can change it — so it is the one honest test of whether your spring is right. SAL spells out the sums, the target window for your discipline, and tells you plainly whether the answer is a preload adjustment or a different spring. LOG THE BIKE AS IT SITS: Compression, rebound and preload at both ends, counted the way the paddock counts them: clicks out from fully closed. Each adjuster is a dial showing how far out you are of the maximum for your bike, so "6" stops being a number and starts being a position. Add the tyre, the pressures cold and hot and coming off track, how it felt, and a note for next time. Between sessions, Quick Edit opens straight onto the adjusters and leaves everything else alone. READ IT BACK: Sessions are grouped by circuit and compared like with like — a dry session is only ever read against the previous dry session at that track. The first session at a track shows its settings in full; every one after it shows what changed instead. Last setup used by track puts every weather you have ridden a circuit in side by side, dry against wet, in one table. WHEN SOMETHING FEELS WRONG: Describe what the bike is doing — front dives, rear kicks, won't turn — rather than what you think is broken. Thirty-five symptoms, filtered to your discipline. Every one opens with what to confirm before you touch anything, because half of what gets blamed on damping is sag, a pressure, a worn tyre or a dry bearing wearing a disguise. Then the fixes in the order worth trying, with why each works and what you give up by overdoing it. What each adjustment does is the other way in: what a control governs, what changes when you move it either way, and what it will not do however far you turn it. ALSO IN THE APP: • Spring rate calculator, worked from your own sag or from your weight • A tyre library with cold and hot pressure windows per end, importable and exportable as a spreadsheet • A service log for any work at all — suspension, engine, brakes, electrics — with what the bike had run and what it cost • A printable one-page setup sheet to hand a tuner, and a file another SAL rider can import • Metric or imperial, bar or psi, and a minimalist view that strips the whole thing back to track, date, feel and the three adjusters FOR ROAD, TRACK AND DIRT Pick a discipline per bike — track and road race, motocross and enduro, or street and sport-touring — and SAL follows it: the sag windows, the spring maths, the symptoms you are shown, and the words it uses. MX riders get race sag and free sag; road riders get rider sag and static sag. Off-road bikes count service in hours, road bikes in distance. Change one thing at a time, write it down, and stop guessing.
