About

SAM is a private, local-first AI assistant for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. There is no SAM account and no subscription. We run no server that sees your messages. CHAT ON THIS DEVICE On iPhone and iPad models with Apple Intelligence, you can chat without a computer. Answers stay on the device. Pairing is optional. OPTIONAL DESKTOP LINK Install SAM on your Mac, Windows or Linux PC (source-available at github.com/richhabits/sam — not MIT, not a paid SAM plan) and scan its QR code. The app then talks to your own machine so you can use local files, tools, Studio and Yard. WHAT IT DOES • Chat, with answers streamed as they are written • Vault: notes, daily log and projects • Studio: pictures from a description • Yard: see what SAM is building, and a notification when it finishes • Crew and Tools • Siri and Shortcuts, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Control Center, the Share sheet, and a Safari extension that asks SAM about the page you are reading • Apple Watch: ask SAM and glance at the Yard from your wrist (needs the iPhone nearby) YOUR DATA Before the first message that could go to a third-party AI service via your computer, the app names those services and asks your permission. You can change this in Settings. Chats stay on the device. We do not track you. NO COMPUTER TO HAND? Tap “Explore the demo” on the first screen for a walkthrough of every screen with sample data and no network. Or chat on-device with Apple Intelligence where it is available.
