About
Sandpainting is a small, quiet drawing toy: a tray of sand and a sun you can move.
Drag a finger and the sand parts under it — slow strokes carve fine lines, fast strokes sweep wide. Real-time light rakes across everything you draw: ridges catch the sun, grooves fall into shadow. Set the hour and swing the sun where you like — midday overhead, warm at sunset, pale at moonlight — and the shadows swing with it.
There is no score, no timer, and nothing to finish. Draw something, move the light across it, shake it flat, begin again.
• Sand that behaves — strokes carve real relief, steep edges slump like dry sand, a shake settles everything back toward smooth
• A sky you set — it opens near the hour you're actually in, then the time and direction dials put the sun exactly where you want it
• Ten ways for sand to look — from plain sand to water pooling in what you dug, ink on paper, a putting green you mow with your finger, an aurora, and light on a pool floor. Sand and Flood come with the app; the other eight are one unlock — and you can try any of them right in the tray before deciding
• Draw from a photo — bring in any picture and its depth becomes relief you can carve into (Portrait-mode depth used when available; everything runs on-device)
• Tilt and shake move the sand, not the light — unlock the hand and sand drifts downhill as you tilt, and levels when you shake; locked, which is the default, your drawing holds still
• Share — save a picture of your drawing, or send it on
Free, with one small optional unlock. No accounts. No ads. No subscriptions. Just sand.
