Does what I need it to do and great support by the developer
After my favorite amateur radio satellite tracking app was removed, I started looking for a new one. I downloaded a number but found that they just did not fit what I needed/wanted and were mostly too complicated. This app doesn’t have many reviews, but I figured it was worth a shot since I wasn’t having any luck.
Really happy I took the leap. (Not a huge one considering it’s only $1.49 a month!). I was a bit concerned when I first downloaded it since it did not seem to contain the satellites I was interested in. I shot off an email to Craig, the developer. He responded in about two hours and walked me through a database update that’s solved to the problem. Now it works the way I need it too. Great support from Craig! Thanks.

Excellent tracking app
This app is very useful for working amateur satellites. It is convenient, dependable and accurate. Creators are responsive to emails requesting new satellite additions to the already extensive database. Highly recommended.
Minor bugs overall great
I’ve been using it for a week or so and although there are some minor issues like layout problems and pass filtering crashing the app it is easy to use and has worked great for me starting off working sats handheld.
Databases fixed
Ok, now all the satellite databases load/good. Thank you Craig.
Databases corrupted
The program works well most of the time. But several of the databases are corrupted when I try to look for a satellite. They haven't been compiled properly. Many of the databases work well.
Crashes.
Required a subscription to select satellites. Selected NOAA group and app crashed. Wasted $12 for an annual subscription based on good reviews. Guess I didn’t see all the reviews.
Does not work, likely spyware
I installed this app and paid the $15.99 for a yearly subscription but I have not received what I paid for. Editing settings to see more satellites has not fixed the problem, I only get to see the ISS and not the satellites I paid for. Apple needs to make refunds easier when you’ve been scammed, there is only the option to cancel the yearly re subscription fee but there should be at least a 15 minute window if not 48hrs to get a full refund no questions asked.

Can’t find my subscription
When I look at the subscription, it says it expires a year from now, but when I run the app it tells me it can’t find the subscription. This is ridiculous, since the update and going to a subscription model the app does not function properly.
Subscription does not automatically review, and their website is worthless
I received an email from Apple saying that my subscription had automatically renewed for this product. When I open the product, it tells me it cannot find a subscription and will not show anything except ISS. I went to their website to try to find support, and the only thing there is is the owners manual and a video on how to set it up. When I click the support icon I get sent back to the same page. The website is useless, and the subscription no longer functions. I do not recommend this product. The older version was so much better.

Cluttered map display
When you put multiple satellites in your select group the world map is too cluttered. It displays all satellites at once.
Worked but
Used to work but now see what’s up and crashes.
Good for amateur radio
I’ve been enjoying the app so far. One feature I would like to see is the NORAD ID number listed on the satellite details and an area for making notes on the satellite for things like activation tones and transmit tones. Keep up the good work!
Overall good, ISS uplink/downlink are reversed
Seems like a decent little app although the ISS uplink and downlink frequencies for the cross band repeater are reversed.
Doppler Corrects Frequencies and Rotor Control!
I have used the previous versions of this app HamSat and ProSat now dubbed “Classic” for almost 10 years! They have come along way and stood the test of time. I have no problem paying a subscription for continued development and improvement. Especially for as much use and enjoyment I have gotten out of app after so many years. Other iOS apps do not Doppler correct RX/TX frequencies and other reviewers may not have realized that the developer added portable Azimuth and Elevation HTTP Rotor Interface Control via Arduino!

Broken
App will not find any satellites other than the ISS when you search
Works very well, subscription is worth it
I was also satisfied with the previous version now called classic. It seems the other two reviews have a problem with the developer wanting to be compensated for their efforts. The subscription price is reasonable and it will enable the developer to continue to improve the app over time.
The only reason that I didn’t give the app 5 stars is due to an iOS limitation, not a product limitation. Apple refuses to implement Bluetooth serial in iOS which would be very useful for doppler tuning ham radios.

How Disappointing
I use Ham Sat for my High School Physics class. This latest release is a huge disappointment. There are no new features but now I’m expected to pay a yearly subscription for the same service that used to be free. As the other reviewer said, the database download is only a text file, not even from the authors servers.
This is a greedy move. The app was never great to begin with, haven’t been updated frequently. I’ll be looking for another satellite tracking app.

Same App, Fewer Features, Money Grab
This is the exact same app as the old “Classic” version except now the author demands a subscription for downloading a text file (not even from his servers).
The ability to specify custom satellites was removed, presumably because this would conflict with the new subscription model.
This wonderful “New” app doesn’t even support proper full screen on the iPad Pro.
No stars. Blatant money grab using out of date code under the guise of “well it’s universal now” which it should have been since the beginning.
There may not much competition but that doesn’t make this app good, it just makes it sad.
