User reviews

This is stellar!

This app has everything I need to outline my scripts. Thank you for this, fellas! I’d definitely recommend this for anyone trying to figure out how to outline their scripts ❤️😎

Can’t log in on website!

This would be a higher rating if I could use the website. It says my credentials are invalid, when I know they’re not. Whatever. Using the app because the last one lost all my stuff! Fix the website issue or just make a downloadable computer app that lets you log in with the same credentials you use in this app!

Small issue

Hi, I’m here to say this app is great, but when it is used in window form, you can’t select a beat and it’s stuck. Annoys me to no end, but otherwise great.

nearly everything is behind a paywall.

i get why the subscription is there since the creators have to be paid but having like 70% of the app completely unusable unless you pay $3-40 is kinda crazy.

:)

Great app for storytellers and it can be opened by final draft go for free

FAQ

What does the Save the Cat! app do?

The app helps writers structure their stories for screenplays, novels, and TV episodes. It's based on Blake Snyder's popular books and provides tools to develop loglines, choose genres, create beat sheets, and organize scenes.

What are the key features of the app?

Key features include developing a logline and title, selecting from 10 unique genres, completing a Blake Snyder Beat Sheet (BS2) with variations for different media, and using 'the Board' to arrange scenes and track character arcs. It also allows for scene sequencing, emotional change tracking, and set-up/payoff creation.

How much does the Save the Cat! app cost?

The app offers a free version that allows users to add projects and work on the title, logline, genre, and beat sheet. Many advanced features, such as tracking objects, relationships, developing novels by chapters, and managing entire series, require an in-app purchase for Essentials, Premium, or Pro levels.

What kind of stories can I structure with this app?

You can structure screenplays, teleplays, stageplays, and novels using this app. The Blake Snyder Beat Sheet (BS2) has variations specifically designed for screenplays, novels, and 1/2 hour and 1 hour TV episodes, allowing for tailored story development.

Can I collaborate with others using this app?

Yes, you can add writing partners to your projects and sync changes with them if you have the Premium or Pro level subscription. This allows for collaborative story development and ensures everyone is working with the latest version of the project.
