Good content but glitchy app
Content is great (learning Welsh) but app is so glitchy- constantly logging you out, switching you to different languages, audio cuts out and goes silent for a few minutes- not great when you’re paying per month!. Good but limited practice
I’ve been using the app to learn Welsh for almost 3 years. It’s great to hear the sentences spoken so you can copy. I found it difficult at the beginning because there is more than one way to say something and I didn’t understand if I was right or wrong. There was a sweet spot in the middle where I really enjoyed using the app. Now it’s just repetitive and since last week there’s been no sound, which is pointless for me as I use it when running and walking. I will still give it 4 stars because it’s better than anything else I’ve found out there and I hope development will continue. Thank you.

The voices have all gone in my french course. It’s now silent other than the very first line of each section. Please fix it!
Great but breaking currently?
I’ve been using this app To learn Italian for about a year now and it’s absolutely fantastic. I’ve now started to try learning other languages however there is no sound. Hopefully this is an issue that can be fixed soon?

Massive downgrade from the old app
I moved from the old app to this one as the old one is no longer in support. This app is honestly terrible in comparison; you can’t navigate levels and courses, the UI is unintuitive, and the actual content itself seems worse!? Also there is a karate gamification element now which is exactly the kind of thing I thought I was avoiding by using SSI instead of the really gamified alternatives like Duo Lingo.
Just want to learn a language, not fight with an over engineered and poorly designed application.
I have now reverted to just using the web UI on my phone, and may cancel altogether :(

Changed app is terrible
The previous app was so good and easy to use both finding g lessons and also you could start half way through a lesson and pick up where you left off. I could use the red arrow buttons to skip ahead. This new app has become torturous why on earth did you ever change it?!
Finally, an app that has you practice speaking!
This app is fantastic!!! I’ve tried many language learning apps, and this one is the best for learning how to speak Spanish. The other apps do too much of the work for you. For example, when learning new words in other apps, they give you a sentences, and then a multiple choice answer. I know of no social situations where the person you’re trying to talk to will give you a multiple choice response. And some of the other apps use way too much English. I already know English! I’m so grateful for this app.

Frustrating and clunky.
Excellent concept, source material good but completely undermined by very poor app design. The belt system is great in theory but extremely frustrating to use. Navigating easily between levels for the purpose of revision or review is almost impossible. Annoying if you’ve taken a break and need a recap or if you just want to revise.

Great, but…
The app is quite enjoyable, easy to navigate with easy to follow lessons. The teaching method I think is great, never got bored. However, after a bit you can’t continue without paying £15 per month, which is arguably quite expensive.
Not quite there
I downloaded the app in order to try out the Irish course with the intention of purchasing the full price course as there are no other Irish courses like this where you actually have to speak out your answers under pressure which is very much like real life (note to Duolingo!). However, I quickly found that the course had mistakes and I feel that the sentences that are made up of words in the wrong order are confusing and are hard wiring your brain with bad habits. For that reason I have held back on purchasing the full course.

Great app
Paid app should not function this poorly.
I was really enjoying this and then one day it stopped loading. Haven’t been able to get it to work for months despite deleting and re-downloading.
the old app is way better
Yes the old app is kind of outdated, but you could speed things up, and jump very easily back to old lessons. since that one is no longer getting updated, i had to start with this app. I had to individually skip though every lesson and listen to see if that where i was up to, even though i am logged in and they know my progress. no vocabulary lists. and the talking is soooo slowwww. needs to be a bit more customisable. or continue to update the old app?

so slow! difficult to navigate why did you get rid of the old app it’s simple and it works but now you can’t tell what lesson you are on or where you are in the progress of the lesson so you can’t scrub back and forth like in the first app and suddenly they’re speaking twice as slowly - which is super annoying and makes me want to throw the phone through the window / plus stupid duolingo type rewards levels and pinging noises which is even more irritating. argh.

The best language learning system!
I used Say Something in Welsh years ago and it’s so good for getting you talking in a new language. I’m trying French now in this app now and it’s fantastic so far!

I’ve used SSIW since back when courses were downloadable MP3 files. Love the learning method, and I love how easy this new app is to use. Just hit play, and practice for as long as I like.
App has lots of glitches
I’ve been using the on-line version of SaySomethingInWelsh for several months now and have really enjoyed it. It was a little annoying having to constantly search for it on-line and so when I saw there was an app I got it. But the app is full of glitches. Whenever I go back to have another session it is at some entirely different level, often taking me back to the beginning again, and when I click on fast forward once it will then go way beyond my level. Then I click back several times and it is still too hard. It also takes ages to load. And for some reason I often can’t get it at all. So I generally give up and search on-line where it automatically goes to the level I’m at.
