SchauMD

SchauMD turns ordinary Markdown files into polished, distraction-free reading on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Open documents in place and read headings, lists, task lists, tables, footnotes, links, syntax-highlighted code, LaTeX-style mathematics, Mermaid diagrams, front matter, callouts, and safe embedded HTML. Find text quickly, navigate from an automatic table of contents, zoom comfortably, select across paragraphs, and copy either a selection or the complete rendered document. SchauMD is a viewer, not an editor. It never rewrites or autosaves the Markdown source. Print the current document or export a new paginated PDF whenever you need a portable copy. Private by design: - Rendering happens locally with bundled assets - No account, analytics, advertising, or tracking - No document upload or server-side processing - Remote images never load automatically - Files remain in their original locations and stay unchanged Platform-friendly details include native Mac windows and tabs, a persistent resizable table of contents, pointer-anchored zoom, iPhone edge-to-edge reading, iPad multiwindow support, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver semantics, dark appearance, and Reduce Motion support. Supported extensions: .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkd, and .mdwn. Documents must be UTF-8 text and may be up to 20 MB.
