SCIO Analyzer User Reviews

Still waiting on that video.

Please list the promised vaporware, er, features vs actual features 7 years later.

7 years later ...

So what exactly did I pay $200 for? So 7 years later I can scan how much fat is in raw beef. Splendid and very useful

Amazing Ag tech product

SCiO Cup is a easy and simple tool to measure dry matter on the fatm

Waste of time.

Was a good product but the app which is integral to use doesn’t even open. Just crashes at startup.

Does not work with iOS 13

As it says... ... please resolve!

Can’t believe the garbage these liars delivered

Just wow, so much money wasted. I’m livid

Doesn’t Open

It just crashes the second you tap the icon. Using the IPhone 6s.

Works for plastics

I signed up for the developer package, and compiled a database of plastics used for 3d printing.

It seems consistent and reliable for this application.

Crashes

As of May 1, ‘19, can’t even open the app. Crashes immediately

Great tool for dairy farm operations

Revolutionary device giving you dry matter results in minutes at the feed bunk. Has helped maintain feed consistency and keeps good communication between feeder and nutritionist.

Horrible

Crashes non stop. Can’t even open the app.

Garbage and a joke

Total joke. This thing is garbage. You can scan the same thing 5 times and get five totally different results. Items to scan are SO limited. Don’t even get me started on the “body fat” analyzer. It told me I was everything from 19-35% body fat and I’m an athlete. Long story short, it measures surface composition, has limited use and isn’t worth a dime.

Awful

I have been using the device and app on and off for almost two years now. It has never been good, and has actually gotten less functional with every update (these are very infrequent). Overall, it’s a nice idea, horribly executed. The developers force you to upload all scans to their cloud system, which is extremely glitchy, and puts your scan data at arms length unless your pay a steep premium to access the raw numerical data. The device itself is well built, but it is almost non functional even for basic hobbyist experimentation. The overall experience is so poor that it’s edging towards scam territory. I understand the tech behind this product pretty well, and would advise everyone to steer well clear unless you feel like wasting a lot of time and money. There are better options for amateur spectrometry.

Terrible product

Awful product - vastly over promises - just a poorly thought out and entirely useless gizmo.

Instantly Crashes...

Now on an iPhone 6S.

Useless

...

Scam

In their advertising on the kickstarter campaign they promised a lot, but delivered so little. Shame!

Overpriced overpromised underdelivered crappy product

This is perhaps one of the worst things I’ve come across in my life, not just in terms of product but also in terms of customer service!
It was one of those highly marketed fund raising products that promised people they can scan and get information of anything under the sky, was more than 2 years late to launch and ended up giving you less information than a simple nutrition info you can search for any any search engine like Google without having to pay the hefty money.
When I asked to return the product and get my money back they said they’re not obliged to do any such thing!

So in summary save your money because this company and everything about it is fraud

App is missing the most important feature.

The SCiO scanner is an amazing device that has a ton of potential, but it's severely limited by this useless app. The main reason to own a spectrometer is to scan materials and identify what they're made out of. That's what I expected from this app, but it's just a bunch of useless gimmicks. It just scans vegetables and tells you how sweet they are. You can't identify unknown pills or materials. There could be a crowd sourced cloud database of materials, with millions of users, scanning millions of samples. But, no. All you get to do with this app is scan tomatoes.

As an overall system this is 5/5 but...

I was an early backer for SCiO back on kickstarter. This is one unique second-to-none molecular scanner that I believe should exist in every household.

As far as app is concerned, this is where the shortfall is felt.
The veg/fruit scanner is impressive (ripe quality rating is helpful) but
