Scanning is free, so you watch it connect to your scooter before you pay anything. HOW IT WORKS One tap. The app finds the scooter, connects, reads every register the firmware exposes, disconnects, and reports. You get a plain-language verdict. "Looks solid", "Worth a closer look", "Walk away unless the price reflects it" backed by a 0–100 health score and a ranked list of findings. SEE IT WORK BEFORE YOU PAY Scanning costs nothing. Tap Scan and the app connects, tells you which scooter it found, and shows how much of it answered, all before any paywall. So you never pay to find out whether ScooterCheck works with your model. You unlock the score once you've watched it talk to your scooter. WHAT IT CHECKS Battery: measured capacity against the model's design capacity (state of health), pack voltage at charge, cell temperature, charge level. Wear: calendar age from the detected model, total distance ridden. Faults: active error and warning codes, decoded to plain English where the code is known. Configuration: speed limit, firmware version, showroom/demo-mode firmware. Drive electronics: motor and controller temperature. Every deduction is shown with the raw reading that caused it, no black box. WHAT IT CATCHES Tired batteries. A pack at 62% of its design capacity gets flagged as a major finding with a rough replacement cost, so you know what you're negotiating over. Wound-back odometers. If the measured battery wear doesn't match a suspiciously low mileage, the report says so, on brands where the odometer is known to be rewritable. Demo-mode firmware. Some scooters get left in the showroom mode dealers use, which quietly limits what the scooter will do. Invisible while riding, and disqualifying if you're paying full price. Permanently restricted speed. On some hardware a lowered speed cap is a one-way ratchet that can never be raised again. Not a setting, a permanent reduction in what you're buying. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CAN'T SEE Every report carries a confidence rating: how much of the scooter actually answered. A scan that couldn't check faults or drive temps never earns the same clean bill as one that checked them and passed. A scooter that hides data scores lower, not higher, opacity is a finding too. There's a "what we couldn't check" list, so you always know where the gaps are.
