Eight bucks A WEEK for rubbish.

My first language was Scots thanks to my Seanathair and I wanted to remember some for my granddaughters but this site is rubbish. Not worth the coin or time.

English Accent???

I can’t listen to that
voice.
Is it possible to change it to another.

The pronunciation is awful

Thu’ is not pronounced ‘Thursday.’ Yet in every section, the computer reads thu that way because it wasn’t coded for Gaelic phonetics. It’s using English letter–sound rules instead of the Gaelic alphabet. That’s incredibly poorly done. The app is only useful for reading and writing Gaelic—its pronunciation support is awful. I can’t believe this is what was recommended to reintroduce Scottish Gaelic to the masses.
Or instead of A bheil Beurla aig duine sam bith an seo the app says does anyone here speak English is does onyone here spik English? Seriously? So it’s just a Scottish accent on English not true gàidhlig.

Very bad

Pronunciation is completely wrong

AI!

All AI! Awful pronunciation, I wouldn’t recommend this. There should be real Gaelic speakers.

Automated rubbish

The automated voice is appalling, the pronunciation is horrendous and so far from correct it’s not funny. Don’t bother to waste your time, I did on your behalf

Review the pronunciation

This requires some serious review of a number of words from Gaelic Scottish. Too many lone words are assumed Gaelic and are not.

Big Disappointment

As the previous reviewer says, the quality of the voiceover is so poor it is useless - you’d be the laughing stock of Gaelic speakers in the Hebrides. And you’d have no idea what others were saying. Don’t waste your money: ad for another language learning app comes up when you open the paid, ad-free version of this app.

Upgraded but no upgrade

Paid the $6.99 and it won’t upgrade?! What happens now?

Terrible!

Look I know Duolingo isn’t the best app to learn a language but at least there I can hear actual Gàidhlig speakers pronounce the words correctly. I also know enough about Gàidhlig now to know a lot of the stuff on this is just wrong!

Terrible audio pronunciations

The computer generated audio was so far from what the sounds of the words are it made the app completely unusable. Deleted

Rubbish app

AI voice reading up lines with incorrect pronunciation.

Absolutely useless!

The pronunciation is ridiculous. I cannot even give this one star. No Scottish Gaelic speaker will be able to understand a single word you say if you use this app.

All ads

This is all ads. I never even got to a place where I could try the actual lessons.

Bad pronunciation

Every time Thu appears the translation pronounces it as Thursday

Good app for learning how to write Scottish, but...

This is a wonderful app for learning the different names for things in Scottish Gaelic and how they're spelled, however, the voice which is used to speak the words is not very useful at all. It is a relatively low-quality English male voice, and doesn't pronounce the Scottish words correctly; making it impossible to learn the correct pronunciation for the words. To the developers, I would recommend asking a real person who speaks Scottish to speak these words, and use those in this app instead of a text-to-speech robot voice. But I do like this app and will continue to make reference to it whenever I'd like to know what a word is in Scottish Gaelic.

It's ok

I appreciate the words but there's a problem as the speech is majorly incorrect and I think a real person should speak it. If you rely on speaking and listening I'd advice you listen to other things that teach Scottish Gaelic. I know there's a channel but you can find it on YouTube. It's called " speaking out language " and other channels.

Every pronunciation is incorrect

The pronunciations are computer generated and based on (probably) English phonetics. This is a trap app to get you to look at ads and is low effort low value.

Voiceover

Voice over was terrible, not pronouncing anything correctly, which is counterproductive to trying to learn a new language…

ADS ADS ADS. Ugh

Did not even have a chance to look at the app before Pop-ups Blocked the screen! I’ll Stick to Duolingo. SMH no!
