Changes made this app pointless

It seemed good when it was a marketplace to buy and sell kids’ clothes, but now it seems to be some kind of AI search engine for online shopping. Not at all what I need or was looking for.

Awesome app

this app makes buying and selling super easy! this app is simple, runs smoothly, and I had a great experience! Definitely recommend

So helpful!

I’ve been so impressed with this app! I used it to shop for my kids and it found great deals that I couldn’t even find through Google. The AI makes it incredibly easy to discover the best options without spending hours searching. What I love most is that it’s simple and intuitive to use—it isn’t cluttered or overwhelming like so many shopping apps. It saves me time, helps me find better prices, and makes shopping much less stressful. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smarter, easier way to shop!

My shopping friend

It’s been amazing to see my Scout find me really great deals on items that can take a while to find using traditional methods. It’s extremely intuitive and fun.

A+++

I was amazed the app suggested and found so many great deals!

Changing the shopping game!

Wow! Didn’t think talking to a penguin would be so fun. I love how it knows what I’m looking for and asks all the right questions to find it!!

Fun way to shop with kids

My daughter’s been looking for those Nee Doh squishy toys that are sold out at Target everywhere, and we heard this is a good app for finding them so we checked it out. Not only did we find it, but it turned out to be a fun way to shop together. Because it’s voice-based, we can have a conversation with Scout together. It’s more like going to the store together versus me shopping online for my kids.

When did I sign up for spam?

Hey, I’m rather disappointed as I signed up and do not remember when I consented to having my email shared with any company that I may have browsed or added into my cart. Deleted. Parents of all people should be protected in terms of what they buy as it usually is connected to their children. I don’t want companies to know what children could be consuming. I’m very disappointed as I thought the founders being parents would know that.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We've resolved the issue and we're no longer sharing email addresses with businesses when you add an item to cart.

What happened to Recess??

This app showed potential a few months ago but now it’s such a pain to try to use I’m just going to delete it. Where it used to be basically a kids posh now it’s a whole mess. There’s no way to just “window shop” or browse without knowing and searching for every little specific thing. Then when you do it’s about 95% links to items sold elsewhere online and not on the app???? It’s so time consuming to post items it’s not worth it unless you’re posting less than 5 items and then good luck hope it was perfect because it’s either delete and repost or leave up a post with problems. Also good luck anyone actually sees them with the new interface. Desktop version works just fine but where’s the convenience in that? Not worth the hassle anymore sadly 🤷🏽‍♀️ Developers - go back to the way it was!! It went from fun, functional and cute to just a waste of time 👎

Thank you for the years of support — building Recess for parents buying and selling kids' stuff was something we genuinely loved, and reviews like yours are why. We've taken the product in a new direction, and we know that's a big change from what made it fun for you. We're sorry it's not landing right now, and we're grateful you were part of the early days. It meant a lot.

lost its core purpose

Loved the app when it was focused on parenting community and advice. It pivoted into a marketplace which was weird enough but now has gone full in on agentic shopping helper or something, just not a problem I need solved. Back to Reddit to find mom support

Most of the listings are expired

Most listings on the marketplace have “expired”. I hate that a lot of the listings are actually links to buy new from the retailer. I also especially hate the use of AI generated listings. I think people are capable of writing their own captions. I had high hopes but back to Facebook marketplace I go!

Thank you trying out Recess and providing your feedback. We aim to provide all users with the best app experience, and feedback like this is crucial to helping us better understand how to do that. We use AI during listing creation to make it easier for busy parents to create listings, but AI should just be the starting point and users can edit from there. We are investing in improving both the AI outputs as well as providing users with other tools to create the best listings to describe and sell their products. We appreciate the feedback regarding expired products. Our intent with showing these is to share with the community what has historically been shared on the marketplace and to give guidance on pricing. We also have an option to "See available only," and we'll work on making this more visible to users like you in the future. We hope you'll give Recess another try soon.

Love this app!

I love this app! It’s the first place I go to for kids and family stuff. The team is also open to feedback and suggestions- making it easy to share what I need. New features are constantly being introduced. Keep up the great work!

Can’t use it because I can’t get past the zip code entry. The keyboard won’t go away and I can’t continue.

Bummed

I’m giving it three starts because it won’t even let me past the create your avatar page. I was so excited to try it. Hope this gets fixed soon. I will rewrite my review once I can actually access the app.

Incredibly helpful app for new parents!

Recess has been such a game-changer for me and my wife during our pregnancy journey. It’s made something that can often feel overwhelming and isolating so much easier. As expecting parents, we’ve loved connecting with a local community of like-minded parents—it’s so reassuring to know we’re not alone. Plus, the marketplace has been a lifesaver, helping us save both money and time. We can’t recommend Recess enough!

Great for first time parents!

Helpful advice and guidance from other parents! I love having one place to go for all my parenting convos, rather than digging through tons of other forums.
