Invaluable for learning Japanese

Both Scribe Japan and Scribe Origins have been outstanding value for me in Increasing my Japanese Vocabulary and recognition of Kanji 30 mins a day on scribe and you will definitely get great results!

Colors are hard to see.

Please make app series with colors that have strong contrast or user adjustable.

Superior Customer Service along with a Very Good Study Aid

I have been using this app off and on for quite some time. It has a great system that uses spaced learning to present specific vocabulary at a time where you may be close to forgetting those particular words or characters. That being said, I was promoted to write this review because of the service I was provided. I recently purchased an old iPad and when I tried to restore my purchase on the new device it wouldn’t work.
So after trying some work a rounds of my own, I contacted the support email and, within a couple of hours, got a response back. To make a long story short, Henry, through several suggestions with quick back and forth emails solved my problem.

I appreciate the effort.

Good product, good service. A simple business plan

It works really well 😊

One of the best memorising app’s !!!

I love this

The free version is pretty good, with over 660 words. This app uses a different study approach. They put similar sounding words together, and repeat all your words when you’re about to forget them, and overall is great for long term memory. For free you can use flashcards, matching, and memory games. Each word has a place you can type notes, and sometimes gives little stories to help you remember the word. Have not seen a japanese learning app this good throughout a whole year of trying japanese learning apps. Totally a recommendation to any (jlpt 5 if you go free route) learner!

Update

It would be nice if you could input words that you want to learn. Such as if you want to memorize the word 爱 ( love ) in Chinese you could make a flash card for it.

It looks like it’s been abandoned, but it’s pretty great

It’s basically a really good Japanese vocab flashcard app. Too bad it hasn’t had an update in two years, though it’s still working just fine for me in 2018.

Best Japanese vocabulary app

All of the best vocab methods in one app: creating your own deep memory hooks (mnemonics), clustering of similar words (including sound and kanji), audio, example sentences, breaking down kanji into elements, spaced repetition... Everything I wanted, and the paid version covers 8000+ terms divided by JLPT level. It's highly customisable, too.

Also--bonus--you can tell it when you already know something from elsewhere.

There's some extra games and stuff, but really I just use the flash cards.

Great App for learning vocab

This app has a great set of features - it has voice clips, breaks down vocab into Kanji meanings, and the space repetition works well. I'm currently wrapping up the N3 vocab list ~200 words left.

Adding some of the following features would easily give this 5 stars:
- Fix the "Allow phone rotation" setting. Currently the app rotates regardless of the setting.
- Allow you open the Kanji in the Kanji/Hanzi app by clicking on the Kanji for each vocab word.
- Allow you to add notes to the front side of the notecard. Currently it's hard to distinguish between different meanings of an English word. For example, the English word "company" could be looking for kaisha, kousei, or nakama. Allowing us to add a secondary English meaning or word would help clue me into which word is desired.

Awesome app

Along with Origins, these apps will give you a great handle on Japanese. 5 minutes or 1 hour, study as long as is convenient.

Nice layout.

Good for people starting to learn Japanese.

すげいいいい!!!

Learned 90 vocabulary words in 5 days! In those, some used kanji, and I've memorized those two. It's addicting to use this app. It uses list of words such as from the JLPT or the way Japanese schools learn words. I wish that there was a list that supported the Genki I and II textbooks. Would have made it even easier.

Best app for Japanese learners

I used this app to improve my vocabulary and kanji recognition skills throughout college. It has so many features that you can practice exactly how you learn best.

Very pleased...

I have tried many different methods before I came across this app, none of them worked for me. I don't like mind numbing repetition. This app makes it fun to learn. After you get a hand full of words memorized you start learning new ones but then it throws you one you've already memorized and I'm like wait I know this... Oh yea that's it! It defiantly commits words to long term memory. The only setting I changed was that I didn't want to see the pronunciation before I click get answer, all the other settings work well the way they are!πŸ‘πŸ‘

Flaw in the algorithm?

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing the full version, and I noticed that most people have a very positive opinion about this app. I can't agree. They seem to have ripped off KanjiBox's quiz style but improved on the appearance. I like that they added an γŠγ°γ‘γ‚ƒγ‚“ voice that speaks the words as a means of multimodal input, and I like the kanji breakdown by radical. On the other hand, no matter how much I tweak the settings, I can't seem to get to a point where I get true spaced repetition. Every time I start, the app gives me the same 4-5 あ words (η‚™γ‚‹, ζš΄γ‚Œγ‚‹, あいまい, η›Έε€‰γ‚γ‚‰γš, etc) before moving on to a ton of words I've never seen and will never see again. I'd love to see an update that improves the SRS functionality, and I'll happily raise my star rating at that point! Lots of potential with this app.

Best for traveling and time use

Been using this since 3 quarters. Only recommend this app if you've taken Japanese class. Their are grammar that needs to be known before learning new words

Love this app!

Its perfect for revising and learning Japanese vocabulary, and it allows me to study wherever i might be, on the train, bus or at home.

This app is really useful if your serious about learning Japanese.

Just amazing γ‚γ‚ŠγŒγ¨γ†

I really enjoyed studying by this app !

Simply great

It's simple and quick to use, however I wish there was the ability to randomize the order of the cards instead of starting with あ

Great review

I was a Japanese major in college, but I've forgotten a lot of vocabulary. I also spend hours a day on the bus. I find this very fun and my Japanese vocabulary has really gotten better. I also do it before bed sometimes because the rhythm helps me fall asleep. But at least I'm learning something! I use this app just about everyday. Worth the purchase price.
