Before you sit the CPT or one of the other six exams in the app, it helps to know which part of the outline is going to cost you points. ScrubCert opens with a short diagnostic, 10 questions and free, that follows the official split of the exam you pick. At the end you see a score for every area, the weakest one first, next to the weight that area carries in the exam. You can take it again every 7 days with new questions and see if you moved.
Much of ScrubCert costs nothing, and it will stay that way. You get the guide to all seven exams, from timing and area weights to what to bring on test day. In each of the 60 content areas you can try 3 questions, up to 3 areas a day, and 5 new questions show up every day. The glossary is open, and so are the pocket tables like the order of draw and needle gauges. The illustrations and the worked calculations are free as well.
The rest is a single payment for the certification you're sitting. Nothing renews, and you won't have anything to cancel later. You get every timed practice test for that exam and every question in its bank, plus a scored test on one area at a time and a review of the ones you missed. CCMA and CPT are also sold together, and there's a package with all seven. Right after your first diagnostic, the app shows you once what your purchase would open. Close it and the free part goes on working as before.
The seven exams are the CPT from NHA and the PBT from ASCP for phlebotomy, the CCMA from NHA, the CMA from AAMA, the RMA from AMT, the NCMA from NCCT and, for front office work, the CMAA from NHA. For the CMA you can study the current AAMA outline or the one that starts in July 2027. Across the seven banks there are 4,159 questions.
There are 72 practice tests in all. Each one has the per-area question count the certifying body publishes and runs on the real clock: 100 questions in 2 hours for the CPT, 210 in 2 hours for the RMA. A test doesn't change between attempts, so if your score goes up on a retake, you really know more. The goal the app sets is 70 %. Take that as a study target and not the official cut, because the certifying bodies report a scaled score rather than a percentage.
Every explanation says why the correct option holds up and where each of the others goes wrong. Under it you'll find the public document it was written from: CDC, OSHA, CLIA and CMS, FDA, NIH, NHLBI, the National Cancer Institute, MedlinePlus health topics, Open RN, StatPearls or the WHO. Tap the citation and read it yourself. Nothing was copied from a textbook or a real exam.
All seven banks are complete in English and Spanish, explanations included. One tap flips the question in front of you to the other language. The exam itself is in English, so you can read a hard one in Spanish first and then make sure you can answer it in English.
There's no account to make, and once it's installed nothing needs a connection. Your progress goes into your own iCloud, so a new phone carries on from the spot you reached. If a question looks wrong to you, report it from that screen and it gets checked against its source.
ScrubCert is independent. NHA, ASCP, AAMA, AMT and NCCT have not endorsed or sponsored it, and neither has any school or testing company. Exam names show up here only to tell you which tests it covers. It is study material, not clinical guidance.
