What's New in Scutely

1.2.4

August 22, 2026

Scutely 1.2.4 Custom species If a species isn't in Scutely yet, add your own right from the species picker and use it everywhere: profiles, cards, care logging, exports, and public pages. Manage them in Settings under Custom Content, where each one carries a Custom badge. When a species you suggested is added to Scutely officially, your animals switch over automatically and the badge changes to Implemented. Transfers Completed transfers and loans now show the animal's name, species, and traits in your history instead of Unknown Animal, the History tab no longer gets cut off, and animals you transferred away no longer linger in Recently Viewed. Traits also display correctly on animals transferred or loaned to you. Polish HerpDex search no longer shows an empty Traits section when nothing matches.

User reviews

good idea, and execution, but some pretty big oversights

currently you cannot add an animal if it’s not in the already extremely limited species selection, you have to pay for a monthly subscription to have the ability to even suggest a species be added. i like that you’re trying to put together something like this but you are leaving out tons of obscure colubrid breeders who would potentially use this app, if they could log their snakes into it and not have to pay a monthly fee for the idea to be considered. until this changes, you will be better off using excel or even just a pen & paper

Response from developer

*Update* Version 1.2.4 Will include the option to create species directly without needing it officially added to the list. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention! Hey, we appreciate the review! We currently support over 600 species. The species suggestion being subscription locked was actually a bug we have fixed on our next update. Our goal is to grow the herpdex database to include every species of reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate. We always take species suggestions at scutelyapp@gmail.com as well and usually get them in the same day. Again thank you for taking the time to leave a review!

Easy to use

Love how user friendly it is and how easy it is to track feedings and sheds with scanning multiply QR codes at once. Helps me keep track of my breeding groups and what eggs I have in the incubator. It also has an option to make a lineage within your collection for a family tree
