Awesome! but can you add more creatures to identify?
I’ve been using this app for 2020 and nkw it’s 2026 I always needed more Creatures fish I’ve used it and shred it with a lot of people to download it it’s a really really awesome helpful app thanks please make it IF YOU CAN ( not forcing )
Awesome
The first use this app i fall in love with it
They want ur $$$
Useless unless you pay for premium. This is not a “free” app
Paywall to view fish & missing fish
I had high hopes for this because this type of app is needed, but I’m ultimately really disappointed. I saw a Rainbow Triggerfish today and so wanted to log it: the app says there is no species by that name.
Then I searched for humuhumunukunukuapua’a, and nothing comes up and I finally see that triggerfish listed as “wedgefin” when the much more common name is Reef Triggerfish. But I can’t check to see if that’s an option because well, it’s behind a paywall (and sidenote: the Hawaiian names for fish should be included in search terms!). I’m not opposed to paying for apps, but when it’s set up this way (hiding information instead of say, additional features) it’s hard to justify a cost.

Can’t ID spotfin croaker
UPDATE: Developer reached out and clarified that the app works best with live fish in natural conditions. The app did correctly ID a dead yellow tail croaker in the sand. It failed when trying to ID a spot fin croaker on my kitchen table. So maybe that wasn’t so natural. Future improvements will include location option. That should help a lot. No other fish ID app does that yet.
PREVIOUS:
It IDs a picture of a spot fin croaker caught in Southern California as a “red drum” found in the Atlantic. No good for me.

Totally recommended
I absolutely love this app 😍
It’s way more than just a fish id tool - it’s like a smart ocean guide with all the modern tech, even AI. Super helpful for fish identification, and perfect for people who are into the sea like I am
Would love to see more species added over time, and it’d be great to have a way to look back at my photo IDs

Great app
Good but you have to buy to get all the animals 🐠 but a great app helps me keep on track of my dives better than ever
A wonderful app.
As an aspiring marine biologist, I’ve been looking for apps I can quickly reference for fun factoids! This app is the first one I downloaded. After reading the reviews, I was kind of worried, but I can completely understand why a membership is needed. If I had the opportunity, I would absolutely donate to this project. Spreading awareness to the needs of the ocean in a beautiful app such as this is exactly what we need. Please download this app! You can’t access everything without a subscription, it’s true, but there’s lots of stuff you can access! Help spread awareness!!

Response from developer
Thanks a lot for your review and understanding! And yes, I definitely want to provide access to the all creatures for free for everyone. And I’ll do it in the nearest future. Thanks for your support ❤️
Need to pay to even see names of most species
Just use INaturalist. Amount of species is also very limited here
Boring, but fun
I’m bored about purchases but I like animals
Solid App
If you rly like the ocean or wanna learn more about the ocean, this is a solid app. Has pretty nice UI and no pop up ads which I really appreciate. Unfortunately a lot of fishes are behind a paywall which I can understand but still a little annoying. There’s around 1000 total animals in the book so far, so the more added I think the better it’ll get.

Excited to see how it improves
I think some people are being a little cruel …I think the app is super amazing! I can see from reviews it is a newer app which is exciting! Maybe instead of making species available for premium membership, maybe different features that are added instead?? or maybe have a lifetime/buyout membership type of deal if possible!! Can’t wait to see the future of this app :)

Me encanta esto yo quiero estudiar biología marina y esto es perfecto para empezar poco a poco y aprender más
No way to create a library
Needed an app to id and save the creatures I saw. This won’t do that.
best sea imfo app ever
i has really interesting stuff some i didn’t even know
Great app, could be perfect
This app is everything I wanted as an identification tool following a dive.
However, the subscription option doesn’t suit an app like this. The option for a one off payment (for say £5.99 or £8.99) to unlock the full app would make this perfect.

Most Species Behind Paywall
Most species appear to be behind a paywall (upgrading to “premium”) which was somewhat expected…also, typo on search page, the filter for “conservation status” reads “CONVERSATION” 🤦♂️
Awesome 🤙
Love it! So easy to identify the fish you have seen using the search. This app is the second buddy for me now! 👌Hope the database will be extended 🤞
