About
Your Yachtmaster application, or your USCG renewal, comes down to a count: days at sea, miles, night hours, qualifying passages — under rules that are easy to get wrong. A wrong total costs months. SeaTally counts your sea time the way the rules count it, and turns it into the documents your application needs.
WHERE DO I STAND?
Choose your target — RYA Yachtmaster Coastal, Offshore, or USCG renewal — and the home screen answers the one question that matters: what is still missing, in plain words. "2 more passages over 60 miles, 1 of them at night. 320 tidal miles to go."
THE TRICKY RULES, BUILT IN
– A qualifying day is 8 consecutive hours aboard, the majority at sea, one per 24 hours. Counting "trips" gives a wrong total; SeaTally crosses your time aboard with your passages.
– Only the last 10 years count toward RYA requirements.
– Sail time counts for sail exams, power for power.
– Miles on vessels over 24 m are capped, and the cap is explained.
– Night hours: the sunset-to-sunrise window is computed from the sun's position along your track; you declare the hours you actually kept watch.
Every rule is shown, never applied silently, and a detected passage can always be unticked. Progress is indicative: the examiner decides.
RECORD BY GPS, FULLY OFFLINE
Start recording when you cast off. SeaTally keeps logging in the background, screen off, through a full night watch — no signal needed. Distance comes from the track; signal gaps are flagged and their miles marked as estimated, never hidden.
DOCUMENTS READY TO COUNTERSIGN
– A sea time record PDF in the classic logbook layout: chronological entries, per-page totals and carry-over, a skipper signature box on every line.
– USCG form CG-719S (rev. 12/25): one form per vessel and role, the month-by-month grid filled in, and no day ever counted on two vessels at once.
Documents export in English, whichever language the app runs in.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No account, no server, no tracking. Your logbook and your tracks stay on your device; nothing is shared unless you share it. SeaTally never asks for your SSN — that box prints blank, for you alone to fill in.
FREE AND PRO
Free: the complete logbook, up to 25 passages. Eligibility, PDF, CSV and backups are never locked — check that every total lands right before paying anything. SeaTally Pro, a one-time purchase with no subscription, removes the limit. Ten years of sea time shouldn't be a rental.
Re-importable CSV export, automatic backups, a 30-day trash: your data is never captive.
