Perhaps the UI part could be adjusted a bit more

Nice UI, password rules too limited

Update: I was subscribed for a while to encourage development but passphrase generation is table stakes for a PW manager and nearly 3 years later (see dev reply below) there's no hint of it. This app is in maintenance mode. I give up.

This has a nice UI that feels very Appley. However it is not serviceable as my password manager without more control over password generation. You cannot create memorable or typable passwords (i.e. using word lists). There are lots of cases where autofill does not apply: not all password use is in a browser or an iOS app. For example in terminal, or a device where I am not signed into my iCloud, or Secrets is not installed, so I need to be able to create passwords that I can actually type.

There's also no control over punctuation characters except on/off. This makes it impossible to create passwords that fulfill specific site requirements (of course those requirements are usually stupid, but I can't change them.)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll count your +1 for furhter password generation options.

Response from developer

Vielen Dank!

Indeed Secrets doesn’t offer custom types like “WiFi” or “Database”. But you can store these just as well. For example, a “WiFi” is just a Login item with no username. You can even change the logo of that item to be the WiFi symbol. For other types, you can use the Note item and format it using Markdown. See https://secrets.app/support/annotate-items/#using-markdown for more.

So buggy having to go back to iOS Passwords

I will have to go back to iOS Password manager. Wanted to like this but my god it’s fragmented across devices and when you need to re-setup a device forget it.

Datenverlust

Hello Max, Sorry to hear you’ve encountered issues. The app should never stop working all of the sudden. If you haven’t already, please reach out to for assistance. Paulo

Just very easy to use

Been using this app for a few years now and it’s just very straight forward to use. Does what you want without superfluous fluff or fuss, it links up to your iPhone too which is massively helpful and the interface looks better than Apple’s Passwords

Issues with device authorisation

There are issues with device authorisation requests not arriving on any pre-approved devices. This is a major security issue that should be resolved ASAP.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review! You can already attach files to any items. If you want to add your passport picture for example, create a new note, call it “Passport”, type in your passport details and then attach the picture using the “Add File” button. -Paulo

Good

Good application

Great password manager for those working in an Apple ecosystem

This might not have all the bells and whistles of other password managers but Secrets is solid and not as expensive as many others. Love it so far.

Perfect app!

Yes!

Fantastic app

Great developer, great support, privacy conscious design

If you like a horrible UX, this is for you!

If you like cryptic, confusing error messages, this apps for you. If you like ambiguous verbiage that gives you no clue whether you're being asked to change your Secrets passphrase or enter in a new Apple ID, this apps for you. If you like not being able to find any info on exactly HOW to purchase premium version, this app's for you. If you like paying the full price to own version 3 and using it for 2 years, and then it not being compatible /syncable with version 4, this apps for you. If you like spending the better part of a Saturday wasting time on the internet trying to get answers, only to be more confused than when you started, this apps for you. If not, seek a differnt app. I'm out.

Integration

Not great

Fairly simple app that doesn’t work that well. Thought could be a savings from 1PW but you’re better off spending more and getting a properly working app. Search function works poorly.

Response from developer

Hello, I'm sorry to hear you had issues. If you're willing to give it another try, version 4.1 fixed various issues regarding the import feature and improved performance as well. -Paulo

Very good to keep your account safe

I been use the Secrets4 for 2 years, it’s great and I love it

No Subscription - Excellent Features

This software has really changed the way I thnk about online passwords and security.
The password generator is great, you key in the length and what types of characters you want it built with (and keeps a record of the old ones). You can have muiltiple passwords / PINs / One Time Auth Codes, Passkeys, notes, add files and even tag all of the "Secrets" to group them easier.
There are a few other "Secrets" conveniently looks after. The wallet is good for keeping bank cards / accounts / PIN numbers (which is much better in an encripted app than scrawled on the back off an envelope in the car!). The Software Licence area is also great - houses what you've paid for, how much and when, version number and licence keys (or licence files), support emails etc. Recently started using the encripted notes part of Secrets too - a handy place to keep Personal Details like Passport or Drivers Licence numbers (in case my physical wallet was ever to be lost or stolen), Tax Returns, Car Registration Details etc.
It looks to be a "Password Manager", but really looks after so much more. I think the name "Secrets" has unfortunetly held this great software back, as it is snowed down in the App Store with so many other similar named (mostly games), and it is a shame to see it not have the visibility as lots of other Password Manager Apps.
The competitors all seem to charge a Subscription, which I expect gives them a bigger advertising budget, but I would recommend "Secrets" to many more people as it is a one-time payment, with sync over the Secure Vault part of iCloud.
I've found the iCloud sync to sometimes be a bit on the slow side (it is not instantanious which I suspect some of the other options may be), but if you leave it to just do its thing, it works great.
I'd recommend looking at some of the YouYube Tips videos for this software (again, it is a bit tricky to find as the name "Secrets" brings up so many other options) but it showcases some really great tips that make using the software so much better.
An exssential piece of software for me now. Excellent.
