Rip off

Very disappointed! Wish I read the reviews!! There should be a way to modify the spinners.

Not what i was expecting

It wasnt what I was expecting! Also cant figure out what the point of the team spinner

Not what was expected

I thought this would be more useful in the classroom. There is no way to edit any information to personalize it for your classroom. Spinning a wheel with A and B for partners is not helpful. Neither is a student selector that has numbers 1-4. Who has 4 students in their classroom?

Hate this app

I need a refund! Itโ€™s NOTHING like the kagan clock I have in my class. I canโ€™t even change the amount of student on the student selector. So whatโ€™s the difference between. The student and team selector? Nothing. Please refund my money!

Is ok. Could be better.

This app is ok. My students do react well and excited when I use the selection tools. My concern is how the app looks pixelated and low quality on the iPad. The spinner has too much anticipation time when using it a lot. I wish it was $3 on my Mac too. All I want is the selection tools and not have to get out another device. Over all the students like viewing the app more then me calling out letters and numbers. My students do enjoy watching the tool.

Works well

I've had all five days of the Kagan training and decided to buy the app for selecting students and groups. It's worked out fine for me and the class is always rooting for the selector to pick them (and sometimes not get picked!). I'm happy with it and not having to remember which numbered students I've picked before. I recommend this app.

Pixilated Graphics

Poor quality, especially from a company that could easily develop something worth purchasing.

Disappointing

Not that great would have been better if you could load students names and it selects the groups

Much better apps which are free

I love the app but...

I teach primary and we never have more than 5 groups-- can you add 4 and 5 to the team picker?

Why can't select groups of 3 or 4?

The team selector will only Show me groups of 6, 7, and 8. What a rip off!

Not what I expected

I am looking for an app that will allow me to enter my students names and then select groups by random, limited either by the number of students in the group or number of groups in the class. This app will not do it : (

Just fine

I was using the cardboard spinner and finding it warped. This works just fine for the classroom. I don't toggle between spinners, mostly use the 1-4 selector. Fun little whizzy and ding noises. My 8th graders get a kick out of pressing the button. I display this on my ipad under a document camera.

Disappointed

This app was a huge disappointment! Wish I could get my money back.

Pupils love it

So far, a week in, the pupils I teach love this from Year 1 up to Year 6. They wait with baited breath for the sound effect and can't wait to get on with the lesson.
The reason for 4 stars is that it is a bit clunky to switch between spinners (for table, partner and place on table), so you need to spin ahead if you want to keep the flow going.
Good app though and I do recommend it.

Kagan

This app. Is not very useful in a classroom setting. I can't figure out how to set my teams, just disappointed I purchased it. I won't rate this with any stars. They make you at least pick one star but actually it's not.

Poor Execution and Poor Craftsmanship

Cooperative Learning is a great teaching method. It is clear though that Kagan did not put effort towards this app. Here's why:

- The timers/spinners don't have sound options (no buzzers or 'dings' to alert class). Unless students are looking at the timer, they will not know that it's time to move to the next student. There is no audible cue. Ridiculous and renders this app mostly useless in the classroom. Hoping for an update, Spencer Kagan, are you listening? Lazy design and ridiculously expensive considering what this app does/does not do.

- Does not rotate to orient up. This is a simple developer tool option that Kagan did not include. Pointless not to.

- The timers/spinners should be absolutely fullscreen once they have been initiated to help students see the numbers. If I already chose the settings and type of timer, why do I need a heading 'interval timer' at the top? Why do I need 'home, new, reset and start' buttons at the bottom. Those should pop up on the touch of a finger. Not be constantly present taking up valuable screen space.

Don't buy this. Seriously, don't. It's a waste. Also, the other apps are unhelpful as well for similar reasons. This is lazy design at an absurd cost. While the in-class teaching strategies themselves are useful, Spencer Kagan has proven time and time again that he is more interested in profit margins than quality products. The same can be said for the Kagan catalog which has $50 led timers from China. Production cost for items like that averages a couple of dollars. Too bad the Kagan Institute isn't more interested in useful accessible tools that complement their teaching strategies.

Kagan, if you want to redeem yourself I would suggest packaging all your tools/apps in one $2.99 package and updating these tools so that they are actually useful. Anyone rating this app over 1/2 stars is seriously ignorant to the amount of work (2-3 lazy days with zero thoughtfulness/quality control) the developer put into this.

Not optimised for iPad

Come on guys, when you pay ยฃ1.99 for an iPad app you expect a little more than an upscaled iPhone app!

Spinner App

Very disappointing. I've used the spinner on my laptop but can't seem to download it directly anymore so I tried this. I'm going to just delete it. Not worth using at all. I ended up just drawing cards.

Eh

Can't use with my classroom projector because it's not VGA? Disappointing.

Disappointed

Not what I expected. I was disappointed but it was my fault for not reading the description carefully.
I wanted to load students into the program and spin to select.
