Most Helpful Self Harm App

Hi Melissa! My name is Melissa too. I’ve been suffering from self harm for about 3 years now and every single day has been a battle I felt I’ve lost every time. I was always so desperate to find a reason to stop but in the end, the reason would somehow leave me alone and I knew I couldn’t open up or keep trying to find a human to get attached to only to eventually be disappointed. I’ve watched so many YouTubers and downloaded so many apps but none of them have personally been able to help me in the long run. That’s when I searched up “self harm” on the App Store yesterday and found your app, Self Harm Recovery. The app icon is a cute drawing of you, which already gives it a warm and welcoming feel. As soon as the app launches, you start talking to me right away so it feels like somebody really does care and is putting in the effort to help me kickstart recovery too. I like how there is more than one video considering different thoughts a person may have while making 15 minute promises. Your voice is calming to listen to and it’s really nice to hear you while falling asleep after a tiring day too. The “I promise” and “Promised” button that then sets off a timer are helpful and reassuring features. To my surprise, I truly love every feature on this app. The distractions page not only lets you add your own distractions, it offers countless suggestions on a pretty background as well. Another interactive feature is the questions section, which has numerous helpful questions you can ask yourself and type your answers in. The info column is just as great because it leads to even more from the developer and lets us know that there’s someone out there creating awesome content who used to be struggling just like us and uses her past adversity to positively impact everyone. I’ve worked so hard to get to today and am happy I’ve found someone super sincere who can help make things easier for me. Thank you very much. I love you, Melissa.
Love,
Melissa ♡
