It’s a great program and I’m learning where to put the commas. I like how it reads to you but there’s one sentence that shows one word but says a totally different word. It’s the sentence about children leaving for the summer. It has the word run but the voice says cheered.

My students love this app. The photographs are interesting and engaging to my students. The various levels make the app versatile to use with all ages and abilities.
Engaging app for sentence structure
All my kids love working with this app as a change of pace. It provides a great leveling system that targets a range of simple to more complex sentence structures, helping to individualize instruction. It has a nice homework section as well. It would be great to have a Spanish version *hint hint* of this app too.

Students enjoy the theme
This is a very nice app. I love the color coding and the level of difficulties it provides. My students stay engaged the entire time.

This app is so versatile because it contains so many levels of sentence structure! Your students do need basic reading skills, but other than that I use this app with my entire k-5 caseload. I work with mostly ELL students and this is a very effective way to work on sentence structure! The graphics are so fun and also appeal to a wide age range. Another great app from Smarty Ears!

Could use clearer scaffolding
I love that there are more advanced sentence structures and appropriate pictures for older students, which is why I was excited to buy it.
However, I wish the color coding for words/phrases corresponded to the part of speech instead of to the word's place in the sentence. (For example, the first word is green and the second word is yellow, so a green word could be the subject of the sentence or just the article "The", which then means a yellow word could be a verb or noun, depending on the sentence! I don't know that that scaffolds meta-syntactic awareness very well.)
For students with low frustration tolerance, the fact that the app rejects the entire sentence and kicks out all the words without leaving the ones that are in the right place intact is highly demotivating and has gotten some of my students to refuse to continue.
Also, I've noticed that some of my students tend to try to drag sentence elements into the appropriate part of the sentence field (e.g. the capitalized word to he beginning, a prepositional phrase to the end) as they read each part, but the app doesn't let them do it successfully. I understand why it would make sense to require the user to assemble the sentence in correct sequence from the start, but try explaining that to my less flexible thinkers who are already struggling with syntax!
