Typed search functionality is horrible.
I tried searching for foods I typically eat to see information about them and the search functionality was poorly executed. The categories provided by Sesame include sample product photos and the bread photo is Dave’s Killer Bread. I searched for that brand and it’s not the first result, nor anywhere in the top 25 results. I quit looking after that because I searched for other products and they didn’t show up either. Also, I searched for products with and without quotes and received the same results.

Super helpful!
I have been looking to move to functional medicine and needed some help to improve my diet and get healthier. Sesame was very helpful in that journey! Scanning foods at the grocery store really helped me manage my ADHD and arthritis.
Really cool product
I’ve always been interested in the concept of food as medicine for some health issues I have, but have only really been implementing it very high level since getting into the nitty gritty of nutrients takes a considerable amount of time and effort. Sesame has taught me so much about the foods I’m putting into my body and has made me think of food and nutrients in a different light. I absolutely love this concept, and the app is really intuitive. Super excited about this!

A great app for Hypertension
I was diagnosed with Hypertension recently and came across this app. I love how easy it is to scan products and see how good they are for my health. Plus they put their sources so it’s a easy and trustworthy app!
Obsolete
Useful concept but app is essentially useless without their subscription or paid plan. I know it might be a small startup, so the fees can be justified but it's not really worth it when there are already free apps that do similar scanning. Honestly it wouldn't be a problem if they just didn't market it as a "free app" (technically true, but doesn't make sense considering you can't do anything within the app without paying). I understand the free version will always be more limited, but be honest, nobody is downloading this app to be able to scan exclusively bread and sauce (the only two types of foods you can scan without Sesame Plus). Even a one-time payment to buy the app could be worth it, I am just genuinely concerned for people paying a subscription to a grocery store app...

Response from developer
Hey there - thank you for taking the time to look through our app! Regarding price, we feel that $7.99/yr is fair and reflects our efforts to make this what it is. I don't believe we market it as a free app anywhere, but please let us know where you see otherwise. Regarding the scan feature - you can actually scan UNLIMITED foods across ALL categories. You are not limited in that regard. Hope this clears things up :). Feel free to reach out to us directly on support@sesameapp.com if you'd like to provide more feedback or chat with the team. -Team Sesame
