What's New in Session Notes AU

2.0

March 26, 2026

Version 2.0 makes Session Notes AU a much more complete studio tool. This release adds Markdown support, writing tools, a more polished note browser, a resizable interface layout, autosave, and iCloud sync. New in 2.0: - Markdown support for more structured session notes - New editor tools for lists, checklists, links, undo, redo, find, stats, and quick formatting helpers - Smarter writing flow with list continuation, checklist continuation, numbered continuation, quote continuation, indent and outdent controls, and paired insertion helpers - In-note Find with live match highlighting and next/previous navigation - Live note stats including words, characters, lines, reading time, and headings - A more polished note browser with clearer active-note focus and stronger visual structure - A new draggable split layout so you can resize the editor and note list to fit the session - Autosave for existing notes so active work is less likely to get interrupted or lost - iCloud sync across devices - New ways to back up and restore notes when you need them - An interactive built-in user manual inside the host app Session Notes AU still does one core job: keeping your working notes where the session is happening. Version 2.0 just does it with much better writing tools and much better session safety.

Amazing Improvements!!!

Thank you for adding the split screen editor and structured formatting. That makes my notes and navigation so much easier while referencing live.

Version 2.0 is a huge upgrade

Really impressed with the addition of Markdown and general smoothness of the new update. I find myself regularly taking notes outside of a session on my iPhone and finding it synced up perfectly within my sessions.

Adding this to every template I’ve ever made. Well done dev.

Good, it could be better with a smilie improvement.

With large sets and effect chains, the icon is too similar to any number of eq or audio related AU in general. This is one app where the ability to change the icon would be extremely helpful. For instance, the ability to just have it say “text” as an icon would really differentiate it spacially as a reminder.

Nice but needs two important things

Very nicely done! This is something extremely useful as-is though most people probably don’t realize how useful it can be. And for the price, there shouldn’t be anything to complain about. Unfortunately it’s missing two things that really hobble it.

First, it needs to save its state in the host app session. For instance, if a particular note is displayed when the session is saved, it needs to be restored when the session is reloaded. I was going to give 4 stars but this is a deal breaker.

Second, it would be super, super useful if notes could have a midi message associated to them (such as a Note number, or a CC/value combination) so that the note will display if the message is received by the app. This would make it possible for lyrics or performance notes could pop up when needed.

With the two above features, this could be a 5 star app. But even without those, at this price I’m not disappointed that I purchased it. So thanks!
