Great game
I’m a big fan of the game. I love the different sharks and other characters, and the potions look really cool. The background is awesome too cause it brings the whole game to life.
Fun, but a little repetitive
I have admittedly only briefly played the game so I cannot speak for lower levels. The game is a fun concept and the controls and simple and intuitive. However, I think the game lacks any sense of urgency. Your shark (as far as I’m aware) can sit in one of the directional squares for as long as you want and thus you can simply wait until there is a good opening to move.
To go to the second depth you need to get 25 points meaning you need to eat 25 fish. I think this is a fair number but fish spawn fairly slow at this first level and thus it takes longer than I would like to progress.
For improvements I think a system where your shark will starve or drown (as they need to move to breath) if you sit around too long. This would incentivise the player to be a bit more proactive.
I think making the spawns in the first level faster would help (because I messed up in the second depth and couldn’t be bothered to start again). This would also make restarting a bit less frustrating.
Finally I think maybe adding some sort of combo system which increases the amount of points you get per fish ( I am aware there are fish which gives more points as well) that you eat within a certain amount of time, the combo would reset if you don’t eat another fish within a short period of time. I think these would improve the pace and incentivise quicker gameplay. Having both a high score and a combo high score could be interesting and give players more to work towards.
