Make a less judgmental app
I love the style of this app. (I hope it’s not AI, but I have my suspicions. But that’s a review for another day.) I don’t appreciate getting a notification after every reading session during my lunch that says “Forty minutes on your phone. Zero pages. I don't make judgments. I make records,” despite me actively logging pages read. I use another app for a timer to track how long I read so my phone is always on. I don’t appreciate being judged for not reading—especially when I actively am. I was going to keep using this app, because I really do love the aesthetic, but not anymore.
Response from developer
Thank you for pointing this out. You're right, and I'm sorry. That reminder was meant to nudge people toward a book instead of a scroll, not to judge anyone, and it got that badly wrong on a day you'd actually been reading. I've fixed it: reminders now stay quiet on any day you've logged pages, and the wording is gentle by default. Shelfd is one person, not a company, and I'd love to have you back. — Zach
