ShiftSlip is the notebook you fill in when the shift ends. Hours. Cash tips. Charge tips. What you tipped out. Four numbers, one screen, about fifteen seconds - and ShiftSlip tells you what that shift really paid you per hour once the tip-out came off. WHAT IT ANSWERS • What did that shift actually pay me, per hour, after the tip-out? • Is Tuesday lunch worth picking up, or worth trading away? • What did this pay period come to, and does it match my paycheque? • Where is the record my employer and my tax preparer are going to ask for? THE TIP-OUT, DONE PROPERLY Set a rule per job - a percentage of tips, a percentage of sales, a flat amount, or a figure you type - and split it across the bar, the bussers, the host and the runners by name. ShiftSlip resolves it, shows every share, and never quietly rounds a cent away. THE DAILY TIP RECORD IRS Publication 531 tells tipped employees to write down, every workday: cash tips, charge tips, the value of noncash tips, and the tips they paid out - and to give the month's report to their employer by the 10th of the next month. ShiftSlip keeps exactly those fields, day by day, with your employer and business name on it and the monthly total at the foot. It also keeps voluntary tips and service charges or auto-gratuities in two separate columns, because they are not the same thing. ShiftSlip produces records and does arithmetic on them. A banner sits at the bottom of the dashboard, history, reports and jobs screens, and a single full-screen ad can appear on the summary after a shift has already been saved.
