About
Just put it away.
Shimau is a tidy-up box for the money and paperwork of working life in Japan.
Receipts, invoices, that envelope from the tax office. Meant to sort them later, and then didn't? Shimau keeps them in order simply because you dropped them in. You don't have to be organised. Once a year, take it all out at once.
■ Three steps
1. Snap it - Photograph a receipt, pick several from your album at once, or keep it as a PDF.
2. AI reads it - Date, amount, shop and category, in a few seconds. No typing.
3. Put it away - Work or personal? One tap, and the filing happens for you.
■ What Shimau does
- Tidies away whatever you drop in
Photograph a receipt or jot one line. That is the whole record.
- Keeps work and life apart
Money leaves the same wallet, but the totals stay separate. Personal spending never lands in your work figures.
- Sums up your month and your year
Made to be understood at a glance, by category and by client, even if numbers are not your thing.
- Hands over a clean year of data
Export CSV for your accounting software, or pass it straight to your accountant.
- Lets clients keep a nickname
"Company A" or "Project 1" totals up just fine. No real names or registration numbers needed.
■ What Shimau does not do (better said up front)
- It does not file your tax return. Filing belongs to accounting software or your tax accountant. Shimau takes care of everything up to that point.
- It does not connect to your bank or credit card. We never hold your IDs or passwords.
- It does not make tax judgements. Whether something relates to your work is yours to decide.
- It does not replace your paper originals. Shimau does not meet the storage requirements of Japan's Electronic Books Preservation Act, so keep the originals after you photograph them.
■ Who it is for
- Sole proprietors, freelancers and people with side income in Japan
- Anyone whose receipts keep piling up
- Anyone who feels a small weight before opening accounting software
- Anyone who stops at the words "chart of accounts"
■ No difficult words
There is no "chart of accounts" and no "trial balance" in Shimau. Snap, jot one line. That is it. This is a tool for people who find accounting hard.

What's New in Shimau
1.0.9
September 30, 2026
- When a year of records is too large for Yayoi's import limit, the Yayoi export is now split into several files by month. The share sheet sends them all at once. - Small display and motion adjustments throughout.
