About

A big ship is about to pass your window. Now you'll know. Ship O'Clock is a clock that knows about ships. Pin your home, your window, a beach or a pier, and it tells you which ship passes next, and when: "2:20 PM · in 18 min. MSC Isabella, container ship, 1,200 ft." Then the tide and the wind, as times too. SHIPS Container ships, tankers, passenger boats, ferries and tugs, by the time they pass you. Tap one for its track and closest pass; open Details for size, speed, course, destination and flag. TIDE Tide times and heights for your spot: a curve you can scrub through the day, the week's highs and lows, and the station they come from. WEATHER AT YOUR LOOKOUT Large, clear readings for the sky, temperature, wind and gusts, with daylight times, the next 24 hours and hourly details. MAP A light, calm map of the ships near you, colored by type. Filter by ship type with the buttons above the tabs; tap a ship for its recent track, projected route and the age of its position report. CROSSING, FOR WHEN YOU ARE ON THE WATER For boaters crossing a shipping lane or a ferry route. Tap Live crossing at the top of the home screen: it shows the ships broadcasting AIS within six nautical miles and when each one reaches your line, ahead of you or astern, with a night mode for after dark. Your position is read only while this screen is open, and never stored. Ship positions can be minutes old, and boats without AIS never show. Keep a lookout: Crossing is not a navigation aid. TRIPS Tap Record a trip to keep your own record of a crossing: distance, speeds, the ships that came close and when, and the lanes you crossed. Nothing is kept until you tap Keep. Trips are private: rename, export as GPX or delete any time. To show one friend a trip, send a private invitation: one signed-in person can view it, not change it, for 30 days or until you revoke it. SHIP O'CLOCK ON APPLE WATCH An optional companion. Tap Record a trip on the Watch and it records your route, in the background too, then hands it to your phone to Keep (with an account) or Discard. No heart rate, no workouts: just the route. WIDGETS Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets: the next ship with a live countdown, the tide, and a board of the next three ships. SHIP O'CLOCK PRO: BELLS An optional subscription that rings a bell, a notification on your phone, before a ship you care about passes your pin. Choose the kinds of ships, a minimum length, how far off shore and how early. Add bells for a favorite ship, for high or low tide, and for wind forecast to build past your number. Quiet hours and a daily limit keep it polite. Three monthly plans with the same features; Supporter and Patron put more toward keeping the ship data flowing: • Bells • Supporter • Patron The App Store shows your local price before you buy. No free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Restore purchases from the app's Pro screen. FREE, AND HONEST ABOUT IT Everything except Bells is free, including Crossing, Trips and the Watch companion. No ads, no tracking, no analytics. An account is optional (a handle and a password, never an email or phone number), needed only to keep a Watch route or send an invitation; delete it in the app any time. WHERE IT WORKS Pin any shore in the world, and find it by name. Where ships broadcast their position, they appear within minutes; weather covers the same places. Tide times need a public tide station nearby, and the app says so when there is none. Ship O'Clock is not a navigation aid, ashore or afloat: your own lookout, your charts and the Navigation Rules decide what you do on the water. What's New in Ship O'Clock

1.2.0

October 28, 2026

Crossing, for when you are on the water. Tap Live crossing at the top of the home screen to see the ships broadcasting AIS within six nautical miles and when each one reaches your line, ahead or astern, with a night mode for after dark. Your position is read only while the screen is open, and never stored. Keep a lookout: Crossing is not a navigation aid. Trips. Tap Record a trip to keep a crossing: distance, speeds, the ships that came close and when, and the lanes you crossed. Nothing is kept until you tap Keep. Rename, export as GPX or delete any time, or send a private invitation so one friend can view a trip; it expires after 30 days and you can revoke it sooner. Ship O'Clock on Apple Watch, an optional companion. Tap Record a trip on the Watch and it records your route, then hands it to your phone to Keep (with an account) or Discard. Pin any shore in the world, and find it by name with the new worldwide place search. Where ships broadcast their position, they appear within minutes. Where no tide station is near, the app now says so instead of showing nothing. Weather now fills in sooner at a new or quiet lookout.
