Charged full amount instead of their advertised free trial.
$55 bucks for a magazine I was unsure of yet I pressed for free trial. I was charged instantly. Not to mention it appears that for your $55 bucks you get nothing but the ability to buy a mag for $16 each time.

I am registered blind with some sight , without this magazine being on my I pad I would not be able to read it , great magazine always read it cover to cover very interesting info every month
Brilliant magazine – rubbish app
As the title says – it's a brilliant magazine, and I bought this subscription for my husband. He loves ships, and he loves reading about them, but he gets very annoyed with the app-As previous customers have mentioned – it is incapable of downloading a full issue properly, and also it keeps crashing, mixing images and text up on the page, throwing you on to the home screen again, Or if you double tap to zoom in, you get an irritating advert about military vehicles magazine, which my husband is NOT interested in.
Emails to pocket Mags about this have been a waste of time, as they are not interested.

Very poor app. Last two issues have numerous pages which superimpose on themselves making the magazine unreadable.
Delete/download achieves nothing.
The app needs a complete overhaul to make it work. As for me I've deleted the app and cancelled my subscription until it is sorted.

OK - I guess.......
I was a long-standing subscriber of the printed magazine until the cost became so ludicrous. The online version is neat and useful to refer to previous months - and its a lot cheaper than buying it in Smiths or having it posted. There are are just 2 things that annoy me: one is that it is "printed" almost 2 months in advance of the month it says on the front, so if you want up to date news, forget it! The other thing is that it would be nice of them to notify me when a new edition is available; my ipad settings are correct but they never tell me!

Waste of time and money
I really wish I had read reviews before wasting my time on a subscription. This is not a complaint about the excellent magazine; its a complaint about the pathetic app that can't even manage to download an edition without stalling midway. Tried everything - restoring purchases etc etc. my strong recommendation is not to bother with this con of an app.

Thanks Ships Momthly you produce a really good magazine full of interesting articles. The down side to the mag is its just a straight image copy of the paper version. I think to take full advantage of the iPad and other devices the app needs to be redesigned. It would be good if you can mix up reading with video and story reading. Also font size is to small for iPad. I know you can enlarge it but then you have to scroll around the frame to read the article and it takes the enjoyment away from reading. (It would also be nice two page photo spreads could be clicked on and photo shown on iPad in full).

As a career US Naval Officer who has had Command at Sea I on a MERAD vessel I have been upclose and personal with the Naval and Maritime Industry for decades. I had never heard of this mag. until I came across it by accident on my iPad. I was surprised at the width and depth of its coverage, and the excellence and quality of both the images/graphics as well as the writing.

Bad App
Lousy app, keeps crashing every time I go into it. Saw one magazine preview and that was it. Try to preview others and it bumps me out every time.

I can download magazine and read it on same day. If I try to open it next day, it crashes and I have to delete app, then download it and magazine again. Same every day I want to read it. Useless app.
Errors
I love the magazine, but the app has a lot of errors at least on my iPad 3 with retina display. It just shuts down unexpectedly way too often. Restarting does not help, I have to delete and then reinstall. Also, I wish the formatting would be a bit better optimized for iPad viewing. The fonts are just a tad too small, so you have to zoom a lot. Also, pictures stretch across 2 pages, which does not work on iPads. So this feels like a first beta version, which it probably is. I hope it will be a bit improved soon. Maybe they should take a look at the Adobe magazine platform for iPad, that seems perfectly stable.

SHIPS MONTHLY APP KEEPS CRASHING
Downloaded last night and downloaded two copies. Tonight I cannot open the app it keeps crashing. Come on sort it out

Same problem keeps crashing
It was ok before the iOS 6 update.
It opened up the other day when it did it auto update for new editions. I thought maybe fixed, so purchased new one.
That's two editions I have been unable to read.
I hope it's fixed soon.
