Good Jisho

Much better than the other Jisho I was using. The handwritten congee function is not as forgiven as the other Jisho I was using, but it has much fewer bugs and much more examples sentences so overall it’s a better jisho

I log this app

Awesome super ultra cool !! お疲れ!!

The best

The best on iPad and iPhone, also works well on macOS.

Indispensable

Nothing flashy and exciting, but simple to use and enormously useful. Would absolutely recommend.

Excellent japanese app

Good app to look up kanji with detailed examples
Should be one of the tools to enhance learning

Cannot fully recommend until certain issues are addressed

I am a paid, frequent user of Shirabe Jisho. While it is a very good overall app, it has some notable flaws:

1. Bookmarks/saved entries cannot be attached to an account and used between devices. I have 400+ entries saved in my Shirabe Jisho iPhone app, but when I use Shirabe Jisho on iPad or Mac those saved entries do not transfer.

2. There are only two color themes, green and blue, and the blue is actually purple. Purple has poor contrast on a dark background. More colors, please.

3. Font/UI scaling on the Mac OS app is awful. 100% is too small. 200% is broken.

Great tool

Great app for those of us who are intermediate- advanced learners. Love all the different ways to look up and learn about kanji.

Awesome app

I’ve just started learning Japanese and I came across this app, after looking at a few others. This for me, has everything I could ask for.
A fantastic app.

I love this app

This app has brought me through so much. The fact that it’s free, offline, and offers many features is just .. amazing. I love this app; I wish they had more, but that’s just me being greedy :)

Great app, one improvement

Have been really enjoying this app. So helpful. When reviewing Kanji, if there was an ‘erase last stroke’ option on the scratchpad when practicing it would be so good. I have to delete all my progress on each word if I make any mistake

Easy to Use

This dictionary app is easy to use!

Awesome

Love that I can save sentences

User-friendly menu

Large dictionary is easy to search through. It clearly labels frequent words that are most likely to meet your demand. This function helps exclude less relevant words from queries.

Integrated example sentences helps to learn word outside of definitions. It imagines specific scenarios where the word could be used.

The challenge of searching a word with forgotten spelling is made easy. Passive autocorrect helps to find these words even with characters missing.

Best dictionary app

I use this every day and it is by far the best dictionary app out there for Japanese. My favorite feature is that it records and dates words you have looked up.

Terrific way to accelerate learning of Japanese

Really helpful and easy to use. It’s great for Japanese because there are so many different words that sound the same. I especially love the favorite feature which lets me build my own vocabulary practice pack.

Examples are not helpful for beginner level learners

The dictionary is great overall. Does most things jisho.org has, but offline. However, the example sentences are not helpful at all for a beginner learner (~N4, ~A2) because they do not give simpler examples that highlight the entry’s most basic usage. So the app is great for a quick translations or kanji lookup, but you’ll need to dig further somewhere else for how a word is used.

Awesomesauce

So awesome and cool 10/10 I use it alongside my physical dictionary also. すごいですよ👍

The best

This is an excellent app it’s way beyond any other Japanese apps or language apps in general, easy five stars😆⭐️
