New Apple Watch Features Added This update adds a Apple Watch companion app — a major new capability: Watch-Based Shot Tracking - MAKE / MISS buttons** on your wrist — log shots directly from the Apple Watch without touching your phone - Shots are transmitted live over Bluetooth to the iPhone app and recorded exactly as if tapped on-screen - Duplicate-safe: if the same shot is received twice (network retry), it's counted only once Smart Connectivity - Auto-connect — the Watch app wakes automatically when you open ShotBuddy on your iPhone - Reconnect button — one tap on the Watch reconnects if Bluetooth drops mid-session - Background polling — both the phone and watch silently re-attempt connection every 5 seconds when out of range, so it recovers without user intervention - Extended runtime sessions — keeps the Watch app alive and motion sensors running even when the watch display dims Shot Form / Quality Score - The Watch captures 50Hz motion sensor data (accelerometer + gyroscope + gravity + attitude) in a 2-second window around each shot tap (1 second before, 1 second after) - A Shot Quality Score (0–100) is calculated from four components: -Release speed (30 pts) — peak acceleration magnitude -Wrist snap (30 pts) — peak rotation rate -Follow-through (25 pts) — combined impact index -Smoothness (15 pts) — consistency of the motion arc - The score flashes on the Watch face for 3 seconds after each shot, color-coded: Green 75+ · Yellow 50–74 · Red Below 50 - The iPhone also scores phone stability separately and can blend both scores for a combined result Watch Mode Toggle - In-app **Watch Mode switch** in the drill screen — optional, with a note that ShotBuddy works great without a Watch - The Watch companion only activates motion capture when a drill session is actually running on the iPhone, saving battery on both devices
