It Has Potential

It doesn’t allow Google Drive or iCloud only Dropbox! It does not include images when importing or exporting. Update it to earn 5 stars

Great app but please fix the lag session loading.

A few times now I’ve opened the app only to find my word from days and weeks before just gone!
It’s made me panic since It’s literally my bible for a shoot day!
Does it take a while to load all the images and text for sessions? Cos it’s giving me mini heart attacks!

Perfect App To Shoot Your Film

This helped me immensely planning and prepping my feature film. Gives you the confidence to know what you need even as it changes on the days of filming. Just finished my film and can’t wait to use this app on my next one.

Shotlist Is An Outstanding App!

I had been looking for an affordable shotlist software app that did not require a subscription. For $9.99 Shotlist is an outstanding App. I'm using it with my Macbook Pro, and it works pefectly. This a versatile App that does everthing and more that my physical stripboard did. Thanks to the makers for creating an outstanding App!

Love it

I have been using ShotList for several years now and absolutely love it. It is a huge help scheduling my shoots. I only wish that they also had it available as computer software instead of just apple ipad / iPhone apps. I would gladly pay a monthly fee for such an option.

Response from developer

Thanks for your kind comments. Nowadays you can use it on an M! or M2 Mac (which can run the iPad version), but we don't currently have plans for a PC version I'm afraid.

Great App

This app is awesome! I am a professional filmmaker and I use it for all my projects. It is super easy to create shots, edit them, and reorganise. As someone who storyboards on actual paper (luddite, huh?) the import photo from camera is also useful. This is a great app, recommend to all!

Film

If you are a film maker you need this! I never buy apps but this one was so worth it

Garbage I want a refund!

Unintuitive and confusing . I can’t get anything to work

Response from developer

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem, but your experience does seem very different to most others using the app. Please drop me a line from the "Support" button in the app and I will be happy to help resolve whatever your problem is.

Adding images to story boards

Anybody else app crashes when trying to add a picture ?????

Response from developer

I am not able to make it crash here, please contact me from the Support button in the app, and I will be happy to help solve your problem.

Ease of use a huge plus

We all have too many things to do, much less learn a new program. We’re an agency in Houston Texas and been using this app since 2012. It works and is fast and that’s what we’re looking for.

Response from developer

Thanks so much, it’s always great to hear from our users- especially the longterm ones.

Thank you developers for this amazing app!

THANK YOU for this app. I had my first major filming last month and it kept everything organized.

One request: is it possible to link projects? For example, I have the project that’s by scene order. To make scheduling the crew better, I duplicated the project and arranged the schedule by cast members. Now, when I mark that a scene has been shot, it would be very beneficial if both files reflected the mark. Or if I altered a shot in one of the scenes, both files show that altered shot?

I hope I’m making sense here. It’s nice to have a project in scene order AND a scheduling order at the same time.

But seriously, thank you for this app. It really helped me organize and make sure every shot was done in a very tight deadline. During the shooting day, things can get very hectic and this app made sure I didn’t forget anything.

Response from developer

Thanks for your lovely comments. I'm so glad to hear that the app is helpful to you. Suggestions are always very welcome, but I'm not sure that the ability to superimpose heads would be widely used (and it would have a few issues, like controlling who's head was used on which figure in each shot - it couldn't be completely automatic) These graphics are intended as placeholders for those who didn't need/want to create more detailed storyboards, to help visually differentiate scenes. The app does allow you to insert any image you like as a storyboard, which could be drawn and photographed or created in an art package on iOS or desktop that best suits a wide range of needs (in addition to storyboards, the feature can be used for location shots, costume ideas, or continuity photos) You could create a library of different shot types with character photos for heads, and then use them to represent specific shots in the app if you wished. In the past I have considered expanding the app to include a simple tool to (say) position representative stick figures to create storyboards, but it could never compete with a dedicated art app for flexibility and features, which is why I chose the most flexible solution. Cheers, and thanks again for the feedback.

Love the app. Any plans for iCloud syncing?

Really enjoying the app. Keeps me organized on my projects, scouting and shoot days. Just curious if any future updates will include iCloud syncing? Would love to make edits on my iPad that I can also make adjustments from my phone and or Mac. Thanks!

Response from developer

Thanks for your kind comments, its great to hear that you are enjoying the app. At present you can share projects to other team members and iOS devices through Dropbox. We will review the practicalities of iCloud synch when we port the app to Mac (after the required tools become available, later this year.)

Great for planning travel videos

Although this maybe overkill for my modest needs, I found it invaluable for staying organized during a couple of days of shooting travel footage in Paris. It can be so easy to overlook key shots on a hectic schedule but I was able to include screenshots of maps and reference images and then reorganize everything according to location. It even helped me to previsualize my final edit.

The app itself feels mature and robust. A lot of thought has obviously gone into it. Highly recommended for a wide variety of video/film shoots.

Over all Great app but could use a few features.

Over all I really like this app and its simplistic nature, but could use a few extra features like a gear and prop list to be used in scenes. Also a more in depth cast section. With things like contact info etc. maybe even some more character options like a bio, and a place to put down what drives a character. I know this is just a shot list app but could be helpful as an option. And really could use a Crew Section for scenes too. So you can mark who should be there etc. and one last thing is Time slots for shots..that would be very helpful.. Hopefully the App Creators will see this.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback, I will note your suggestions for consideration in future updates. ( I may be able to provide a notes section for each character, and a link to your contacts to call them if needed, on the page where you presently enter a character name?) At present you can include additional crew or props on the cast list for a scene, if needed, using CAPS to make it easy to spot which is which, and omitting anything needed in every scene to keep things simple. (Perhaps the page I mentioned above could include a switch to select cast, crew or props, so each type could appear in different colours throughout the app?) Mobile design is always a tradeoff between simplicity, to keep the app usable on mobile devices, and flexibility, to cover the widest range of user needs. Sometimes the hardest part is knowing what to include, and where to put things. Please feel free to email me through the support email in the app if you would like to discuss more.

Great app

Love the app. Takes a while to wrap your mind around the way it works, but once you do, it's very useful. Would recommend this for anyone producing vlogs, movies, commercials and more.

Great App For Films

I have used this app on a bunch of projects and highly recommend it!

Great surprising find

I stumbled across this app and thought I try it as we wanted to transition from a word doc and something more structured. Had it for two weeks and it’s great, deep enough for great organization and creativity but not overwhelming to learn.

Awesome awesome awesome!!!

This software am only giving four stars… And it’s mainly on my in a why it’s far four stars. The more I use this software the more I realize that it has a lot of features and a lot to offer. I’m glad that I’m tech savvy enough and able to find a lot of the stuff, but I wish that they were to tutorials on the software. I was able to create a ShotList and a storyboard within two days of using the software! I highly recommend it to all!

HI, Did you try the User Guide? (linked from the Support button in the app) That walks through all the major features, as does the introductory video. If you have any further questions please drop me a line from the Support button in the app and I'll be happy to help. Peter

Great

Love it. I would give it five stars if the storyboard gave me he option of sketching my scene. It only lets you take a pic or choose an image from the library for right now.

Essential

Don't want to plan a shoot without this app ever again

Response from developer

That's great to hear, please contact us through the Support button in the app if there is anything you would like to see in the future..
