Decent, but needs an iPad version
Update broke the search function
Tell us your allergies we will ignore it
Used be excellent…
Worst of all, today it forgot my logon, which was through Apple ID. Suddenly it wants my email and password and a password reset doesn’t send an email for recovery. I guess thats a wasted subscription.
Was great but not anymore
Good content, bad new UI for me
I’m not a fan of the new interface. It makes it harder to do things as packs of 3, as originally intended, and pushes more individual meals.
Great app, great food, one massive change
Terrible new app ui
New update
Major deviation
New update (jan 2025) is bad
3 years in - it’s a win!
What I like is that I’ve actually learned things from it without really trying. I use lemon way more than I ever did, and miso paste… I never really knew how to use it before, and now it’s become one of those things I always have in the fridge.
Price-wise, it feels super fair for how much we use it, it pays for itself. And the app is straightforward, which I appreciate.
Every Saturday we pick six meals for the week, do the food shop, and that’s dinner for the week taken care of. It takes the stress out of constantly deciding what to cook after work… and less evenings when I’m left throwing a meal together with random leftovers.
I should say that I love cooking anyway, it’s definitely a hobby of mine. And it’s nice knowing I can walk into the kitchen and just follow something I trust, and it will usually turn out really tasty, without the faff of having to think too hard about it.
If I had to find a downside I would be cooking times. I get that ovens vary, but there have been a few times when meals have needed 50% longer than the recommended time.
Overall it’s a win for us!

This is lovely to read! Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We’re really glad Sidekick’s become part of your weekly rhythm and that it’s helped take the stress out of midweek cooking (Saturday planning is exactly how we hoped people would use it). Great to hear it’s helped you quietly level up too - lemon and miso are strong fridge staples 😉 And you’re absolutely right on timings: ovens vary wildly, and we know some recipes can run longer than expected. That’s something we’re actively tightening up. Thanks again for cooking with us! Sounds like you’re using Sidekick exactly as intended, and we’re really glad it’s working for you. Thanks Team Sidekick
A for effort
„Vegetarisch“ nur Präferenz nicht Filter
Response from developer
Thanks for your feedback - that shouldn’t be happening. If you’ve set your preference to vegetarian, you should mainly be shown vegetarian recipes. If that’s not the case for you, we’re happy to look into it and help. Please email help@sortedfood.com so we can check this for you Danke für dein Feedback - das sollte so natürlich nicht passieren.
The Cookbook of the Future
The app is very well laid out, where just browsing for next weeks meals is a treat, not a chore. The ingredients list is clean and organised so it makes racing round the supermarket an absolute doddle. For what is 5 pounds a month, I’m probably saving 10x that minimum in reduced food waste and eating far less takeaway. Never mind the time saving of not spending 1/2 hours in meal planning each weekend.
I’ve ended up sharing the app with family and friends, and being able to share the fav recipes with each other adds another dimension to it as well.
I’ve always been a foodie, and tend to skip the full detailed recipe breakdowns as I don’t need to worry. But being able to put a recipe in front of someone who doesn’t like/know how to cook, and see them go through the step by step guides with the pictures, and then come out with a plate of food to a standard they have never cooked before is quite something. And I’m still learning new techniques and styles I would never have tried before!
The app has so much scope in the future for people to start uploading and sharing their own recipes, and I really hope they develop out the social media aspect of the app so people can build their own cookbooks in the app and share them. But this app is already worth it 10 times over.
Ps, Jamie Currie’s salads are an absolute joy.
Celiac Friendly Options
When looking at gluten free options I’m seeing only a few recipes and the majority have something in common: no meat. I can’t eat gluten but I love my meat (tofu not so much).
It’d be nice to know how deep the recipe library goes and if there are tips on how to swap gluten items in a recipe out with something else.
